I love my PS2, i really do and still have a massive backlog of games to work through but i was wondering are there any releases on the horizon worth getting excited about? I probably won't buy a PS3 for 3 years so i was wondering will support for the PS2 continue for years to come with quality titles.

It already seems to be dying down, I don't actually know of any new games coming to the PS2 in the future that I'm after

Let see.... Fire Pro Wrestling is coming out in USA soon with budget price of 20 dollars. Atlus USA has said that it has few titles for PS2 in year 2008 (I would guess that Persona 3: FES is on the list). Yakuza 2 is going to get western release in 2008. Other than these, I can't really remember anything worthwhile coming.Comment

I read that Alone in the Dark 5 is gettin a release - although why you'd get it is beyond me as its being released cross platform. I just hope a steady trickle of 2d shooters and fighters a la dreamcast can come from japan on ps2.Comment

There are still a few games being released for the PS2 that are probabaly worthwhile.
The PS2 version of Manhunt 2 is suppose to be more more visualy explicit than the Wii version, thus the one to go for, and i heard that new jackass game was quite fun as well.
Samurai Showdown 6 is either coming out or is already out on it too.
Persona 3 probabaly worth a look too, which I know has been out a while elswhere but its out over here soon.

There's still a couple of japan only releases I'm after. SD Gundam G Generation Spirits and Super Robot Taisen Original Generations Gaiden. Not likely to appeal to anyone other than myself I'm afraid though.Comment

Hopefully the Wii will extend the life of the PS2 as games developed for Nintendo's machine get ported over to it, not just the other way round.Comment

PS2 is worthwhile just for the back catalogue. I was tempted to sell mine due to having far too much to play, but after looking through my collection that I have built up over 5 years, I came to my senses and realised that this machine has much more to give me, just with the games I have got.Comment

You'll need to remove the old disc drawer front anyway. This is a simple job but VERY difficult to do without breaking the retaining arms. If you're interested I have a few suggestions about how to avoid this but I'd still advise having some epoxy glue ready.Comment

I hope for the sake of the Wii that PS2 development dies and dies quickly. It's a real shame for a new platform to have the quality of it's releases dragged down just to enable an easy port to an ancient platform.
360s are cheap now, as are Wiis. It's time to move on people.Comment
