I should bloody well think so too.

Surprised by GH3's score of 6. Not that I'm any less amped/stoked/psyched about rocking-out supremely hard on it this weekend. Not too surprised about the Mass Effect 7, compared to the likes of Galaxy and all the other triumphs this year it seems pretty stale looking to me.

Cant comment on Mass Effect yet as not played it but I think they gave Assasin too high a score for them as its very repetative.

What did they say about Galaxy as to give it a 10 means they must have gushed over it?

didnt CVG when they reviewed mario 64 give it a game of distinction score or something.....think that was the only game they awarded that to

GamesTM gave it a 9 so Edge were duty bound to go for a 10.

The Witcher got an 8, calm down. Serves you all right for listening to rllmuk.

                  2. The Witcher scores shows how clueless they can be. No way in hell is that a 5/10 game.
                  3. Baldurs Gate, Baldurs Gate 2, KOTOR, NWN, Jade Empire. Not a single one of those games is a 7/10 or lower, so Bioware clearly know what they're doing and I find it hard to believe they'd **** up so badly.

So yeah, not anything to be concerned about.
I totally agree with you there.
I had a quick go of the witcher last night on my new gfx card. Its completly fresh and the combat is preety impressive for a pc rpg. I can't wait to play more of it, when i can.

GamesTM can **** off to the grave. One ****ing terrible magazine right there.

Edge is probably the most acurate barometer of game quality in published videogame journalism.

They have got it right far more often than wrong...(for wrong see SFIII:3s - 6/10 (more like 9 or 10), Fahrenheit 8/10 (****e game more like a 4))

Mario is the most deserving 10/10. Their recent 3 10's are my three games of the year. Not only that, they are the three best games I have EVER played.

Kotor got a 9. a just score. Jade empire got a 7 also a just score.

Jade empire was a great game, but the 7 was pretty much bang on.

so mass effect will probably also be a great game. its all good

I wonder if they've criticised Mass Effect for the tearing issues and framerate problems mentioned elsewhere. It sounds like they could be on the verge of making the game unplayable. It wouldn't be like them to mark down solely on that basis though.

Or the fact that is bloody short for an rpg?

                                i) The Witcher is at times a torpid, tiresome mess of bad dialogue, terrible acting and massive load times every 60 seconds, not to mention the laughable 'gotta catch 'em all!' sex card thing. A 6 would be roughly right, a 7 maybe.

ii) The excellent KotOR received a 9, as did NWN. Baldur's Gate II got an 8, the underwhelming Jade Empire a 7. The common complaints of Mass Effect seem to be a rather short main story that doesn't finish as strong as it starts, no variety in the exploration/side missions and the stuttery graphics engine/texture pop-ups/bad team AI. Add that to the simplistic morality and repetitive themes that crop up regularly in Bioware's output, it's not a stretch to imagine that perhaps it's not quite the second coming we all hoped it would be.

In any event, a 7 is hardly the end of the world and given I'm more of a space geek than a martial arts one, I'm sure Mass Effect will provide me with hours of entertainment regardless. Certainly, far more than Jade bloody Empire, that's for sure!
