    Wii light guns

Not sure if this is more suited to the console questions forum, but I guess it's more of a discussion with people (hopefully) posting their impressions of various light guns for the Wii.

Theres a couple at play, one of which is a one handed light gun and the other which looks identical to the zapper.

There are also some interesting ones here.

Obviously theres also the Wii Zapper, but I'm not convinced about a two handed light gun and IGN didn't seem very impressed with it (something about not having a spring in the trigger?). I also couldn't care less about Link's Crossbow Training, and I'd rather not spend $20 (+ shipping) on a game I'd almost never play and a piece of plastic which, let's be honest, is purely for novelty.

Anyway - has anyone tried one out? And if so, would you recommend it?

BUMP, because I really need to rectify the fact I've got 3 shooting games for the Wii but no guns to play them with.

Which of these is considered the best option?

      Nyko Perfect Shot
      HOTD Hand Cannon
      Zapper

      Or something else?

Any reason why one is better for certain games etc?

      Cheers

Haven't tried the Zapper or the Cannon, but I do have a pair of Perfect Shots and they're great. Good trigger action and nice simple handgun design. Cheap as well. Haven't been able to fault them. Seem to do the job.

IGN reviewed it here. You'll find a video review too.

I have all types and the Nyko is head and shoulders above the rest.

I have a HOTD one and it is not well balanced or comfortable for extended use but it works OK.

I'm not a fan of the zapper, but it works absolutely brilliantly for House of the dead, i must say. It requires being held with two hands (right hand on the handle with the left hand cupping it gently), which is why it is absolute bollocks for Resident Evil: UC (it's difficult - well, impossible, to press the A button smoothly like this)...

The handcannon works a dream though. For me personally, it is one of the better looking and feeling guns out there. It is a bit weighty though, but as i tend to rest on a cushion on my lap whilst shooting (with the gun on the cushion - taking any strain away) that doesn't effect my performance. I've gone three, four, five if not more hours straight using it without any pains or awkwardness. It can leave slight marks on your palms (though these inflict no pain...) but aside that it's perectly comfortable...

In regards to the handcannon, I suppose it depends on how you hold it. I tend to hold it more like a shotfun, which works perfectly for games like House of the Dead and even Resident Evil: UC (as long as you're using control setting A - not the zapper setting).

With that said, i recently saw this new light-gun: Clicky!

              - which i have to say looks pretty darn cool. I'll be getting this soon :-)

Have to say I don't like that one Adam - the main issues are that your hand will be in an awkward position, and there's no apparent way to aim using iron sights on the gun itself, so you'd have to have an aiming cursor on.

That's fair dos matey. Maybe it's how i'm sitting, but i've been playing House of the Dead with no cursor (my mate gets too confused with two cursors on, ha, bless him) - and i usually get better scores and a greater sense of accuracy then he... I find it a lot more speedy and swift to aim.

edit: oops, to you mean the hand-cannon or the one in the link?

I have the Datel version of the Nyko John and it's easily the best i've used. ?10 delivered off ebay.

Exactly the same minus the blue handles, and has bad mother ****er on it.

                    (made that last bit up)

the nyko perfect shot is great and i highly reccomend it, but id have to say the hand cannon is my favourite of the three you mentioned. the nyko probably has a slightly better trigger + its a lot lighter, but i just love the style of the hand cannon.

wii zapper i dont like at all. only got for links crossbow training
