I dropped my phone in my bog once and despite it being dried out for a few days and working fine for the following few weeks, it died soon after. When i opened it up i found bits of corrosion, chalk and what looked like rust (could have been turd though) all inside!
Quite. My old MiniDisc player from about 7 years ago was left soaking wet after a can of beer that was in the same bag as said device suddenly and inexplicably exploded. It worked OK for a little while, but it wasn't long before it started to screw up.

I once read about a guy who fell into a lake on holiday. Three weeks later, he was on his way to work and just burst into flames. So, yeah, you could be better off replacing it.
