PS3 game manuals

Does anyone know why the majority of the European PS3 releases have such poor black & white manuals?

I've a couple of US and JP PS3 releases which have lovely colour manuals such as Ratchet and Warhawk.

A couple of recent examples are Uncharted and Call of Duty 4 which have disappointing b/w manuals for the UK, so I was wondering whether the US versions of these games have 'proper' colour manuals.

I tend to get import versions if the release date is early enough to make it worth it, however if the European releases are going to get shafted like this in the future I think I'll be getting most of my games from the US and Japan again.

Post on here if you had any good/bad experience of PS3 manuals from any region.

I haven't had a ps3 game that has had colour instructions i dont think. I find it annoying myself.

This is the exact reason why I been buying imports for the last 15years, cover art and nice manuals amongst other things, but of late I have got slack and bought a few euro releases and COD4 PS3 was one - boy did I shake my head in DISGRACE at just how bad the manual was WHY did they even bother?

We Brits will pay over the odds for shoddy products and just grin and bare it while in the states they just wont put up with it, they demand quality for there $$$$$

Same with every other console really. US gets more color manuals than PAL. Mainly because PAL manuals need more pages or they have to print several language copies.

Also, manuals cost more than the disc, especially a color one.

Edit - not sure how much BD discs cost, but they're probably offsetting the costs.

The CoD4 manual is the same for the US, and for all three platform versions of the game I believe. As for Uncharted, the US manual is rather nice, styled after the diary from the game.

I think I'm going for the US versions of Devil May Cry 4 and MGS4 as I don't want shoddy b/w versions of those.
I definitely makes it worse having some versions of the game having nice colour manuals and us Europeans then have to pay more and then also get shafted with a b/w manual.
