    AOU 2008 Thread/Fighting Games...?

Can I start this thread by saying I love this year! So many Fighters coming its untrue, great as I love them so much.

Anyways I'm also really impressed with AOU this year, For me SNK managed to get both the best and worst awards!

    Best: KoF XII
    Worst: Samurai Spirits Sen

Anyways, I wanted to find out your opinions on what seemed like a dieing genre.

    Are Fighters Back...? Discuss.

^ What he said, Virtua Fighter 5 still gets regular time in my hooose. Last time I checked, the Japanese were still enjoying the likes of 3rd Strike, Melty Blood etc. The genre will never go away, but it won't enjoy FPS levels of popularity.

I still play 3S on a weekly basis (having the CPS3 set up in our kitchen helps), and I'll always love vs fighters, so it's good to see some new blood coming this year.

KOF XII looks pretty tasty, but that being said it wasn't as if I didn't enjoy XI, and even that I've struggled to get heavily into. SF IV looked quite poor at first but I'm slowly coming around to it, more than anything I'm hoping we get a decent arcade presence for it over here.

We have Taito to thank for developing the first real third party HD hardware and getting some decent names on board. We'll have to wait and see how much they bother with Europe though. Theres little demand for it with console ports so close these days. I don't think Namco are marketing Tekken 6 here this time.

There was a whopping ONE Tekken 6 cabinet present at this year's ATEI. I'm not even a Tekken fan but even I thought that was a bit of a shame.

I'm sure I read Namco won't be distributing it themselves for the first time. I may be wrong.

I'm checking almost on a daily basis for when pre-orders are on for T6.

Bought the PS3 for this and can't wait for it, Jap version all the way for me.

Yes, this year is looking good for fighters though I still have to get VF5 - hangs head in shame.

Fighting fans should be happy. With this many games we'll either get a steady stream of them over the year or if they're all released in the same 2-3 month space then we'll have lots of fighting fun on our hands!

Just give me KOF XII too play and I'll be happy!
