Nearly at the end of Link's Awakening now...

The problem is, I now think that's the best.

Everytime I finish a Zelda it goes up on my list to the 'best'.

    I just can't help myself.

    Oracles next!

One of the reasons its so great is that all the subquests revolve around characters and character relationships rather than simply hunting for items. This gives the game incredible depth. It's also rather difficult - especially if you want to get all the masks - but don't let that put you off!
Yeah, I'd agree, some of the side quests were brilliant. I've got fonder memories of OoT, being the first for me (not to mention one of my first real adventure games), but always felt that MM was the better game.

MM was the one I never really got on with, but I didn't like the feeling of time catching up on you, not a fan of time in games. I've got it on cube though on one of those collection discs, so I guess I should fish it out and give it another chance, it looks quite nice in "high res" emulation.

Should one be played first or doesn't it matter?

Does anyone know what I'm talking about?
It can be accessed later in the game by pushing one of the grave stones in the cemetary. If you remember, the dungeon leads from Hyrule Castle, under the cemetary and into the church.

I don't think it matters which one you play first. Just get to playing them :P

You have to get the Super Famicom original in my opinion or Snes, if you want it in English, although the japanese artwork for the box and instructions is just absolutely gorgeous, and rates as one of Nintendo's finest artwork for a box and instructions ever.

The Gba emake has a lot of differences in my opinion and all for the worse. That fecking noise from the n64 version is just plain annoying considering you use the sword so much in this game, and the voicework wasn't even resmapled for the gba and is havily compressed and sounds tinny, and is just bloody anoying on the gba(it didn't bother me in the n64 game as it suited that game.), also the change of dungeon difficuy to make it easier is just unforgivable. The challenge of that dungeon is what made the game unique, like the water temple in Toki no Ocarina. Also the mode 7 effects have not been properly adjusted for the gba and just look **** on the screeen, maybe it's the resolution. Resolution....thats another point, you cannot beat playing this game the way it was meant to be played, on a good crt with rgb scart. Preferably a big screen to appreciate how gorgeous this game is.

SOUND!!! , apart from the annoying noise, the sound on this game suffers like another sfc port on the gba Super Mario world. Although it was bearable at the time, the sound is just plain tinny and weeedy, on the gba, and for a game like tyhis, that had the best sound and soundtrack of any super famicom game, that is just unforgivable too, not ninty's fault, they done their best, but the gba's **** sound can't compare to the awesome sony sound chip if the super famicom.

Lastly we have slowdown, not on the sfc version but the gba game has slowdown.

That's just my opinion, but if you don't hav an SFC, get this game for the virtual console, it's a perfect port there. AND CRT ONLY!!! Please appreciate the visuals on a good crt.

Well I do have the original SNES PAL Cart for my SNES but I did end up playing the GBA version (although it was on my PSP).

I thought the graphics and sound were great, and a friend of mine is currently playing LTTP (SNES) on an original XBOX, didn't notice a lot difference there.

But I appreciate what you're saying, original always best (I did remember LTTP being harder - but I was a lot younger back when I completed it on my SNES )...

Fact is though, I wouldn't have had time to play Minish Cap, LTTP and Links Awakening if I played them all on my telly (which is an LCD anyway ). I take my PSP everywhere and that has helped me to do all these games. It's a real touch of genius.

Just finished Link's Awakening DX now so I'm moving onto Oracles tomorrow (gonna do Seasons first).

Just like to say I'm really, really enjoying Oracles of Seasons now on the GBC.

I'm loving riding the animals, it's a great touch.

Up to Dungeon 4 at the moment.

Just hoping the N64 emu on the PSP picks up dramatically because I don't think I'll have the time to sit down in front of the telly and put the same effort in as I've done on all these emulated versions on the PSP...

But thus is the perils of modern life....

Just finished Oracles of Seasons. Gave me a code at the end and said to be continued in Oracles of Ages.

                                Talking about wetting the appetite.

Not spoiling anything, but I didn't expect a final battle like that in Seasons. Capcom influence I think.
