The rights to Formula One still belong to Sony and it seems that they will do for a "few years" according to EA.

I am personally a huge fan, having grown up worshipping such great drivers as Graham Hill, Jim Clark, Jackie Stewart and James Hunt. The excitement that Lewis Hamilton has brought to the sport, and its vast global appeal, make it an appealing game license, but as of right now it is not available. Maybe in a few years the situation will change, but until then we fully respect the rights held by our partners at Sony.

Not sure whether to be impressed or scared by some of the thinking in this thread...

          Rumor: Sony Ditching F1 License

Console maker Sony is rumored to be abandoning the license for Formula 1-branded racing video games, with increased license costs blamed as the culprit.

Sony's hold on the F1 license has long kept the sport from appearing on any non-PlayStation platforms. With Sony supposedly out of the picture, an F1 game could find its way to multiple platforms.

The report named EA, Ubisoft, and Codemasters as possible licensees, though it could go to any of the countless other publishers in the industry. EA and Codemasters are both established developers in the racing genre, while Ubisoft has yet to produce a major racing title.

Just in case some of you miss the Headline thread, Codemasters have brought the license. So expect to see multi-format F1 games from now!
