Game are not the only useless sods

My mates been down to our local importers to buy a gamecube after playing F-Zero.

ANyway, he goes to buy the zelda pal pack and comes out with an Jap switched cube, a copy of american zelda (without bonus disc) and a freeloader all for 150 quid

He gets back to my house to proudly show me what he's just bought, only to find out that he'll need a ?25 stepdown converter, and at least a ?10 s-VHS lead before he can even play the damn thing.

My point it, these guys kn ew exactly what he needed, and didn't sell it to him, they took advantage of a customer and sold him something he didn't really need. I just wanted to show you that it's not just Game who sometimes give bad customer service.

Local eh, was that in bournemouth? Not Video Games Centre by any chance was it?

I'm not trying to name and shame them, just curious. Don't know any other importers in bournemouth thats all.

        What are you complaining about?

Sounds like your compadre had a lucky escape from the evils of a PAL GC...

Actually, in this instance, I think you've failed to get it, to be perfectly honest.

                    Some facts to point out.

He went to an IMPORT store to get a PAL GC? Wow, that figures.

He wanted one after playing F Zero. Why would he want a PAL cube when its not out for ages, and isnt supported by freeloader etc.

He is a human capable of making his own choices, the store didnt hold him at gunpoint and force him to buy anything, unless theres something we dont know?

Last one.. this is an import gaming forum, if you want to talk about PAL gheyness then take it to the relevant forum

but he didnt need to pay the additional for zelda and freeloader. all he wanted was a gamecube. added to that he will have to spend further money on a stepdown and svsh lead so it just seems to me that they were taking advantage of an easily swayed customer.

The guy im sure is capable of making his own decision as you say but when you are unsure of what you want / need you just go with what the shop say because you think they know better and they influence your decision.

It sounds like the shop wanted to ram their old stock they cant shift down the guys throat and he thought ah **** it stop please, ill buy it.

He wanted the zelda pack regardless of where he went to.

He came out with a copy of zelda (no bonus disc) and a freeloader which he will most likely never use with a switched gamecube.

?150 + ?25 + ?10 = a lot more than the zelda pack price. Shop gets more money and customer gets sold stuff he doesnt really need nor want.

Sorry, with the myriad of radical changes to your post, I must have lost track of exactly what you were talking about, if anything at all.

You're making a rash of horrible assumptions. How 'in the know' is this chap. Several of my friends who enjoy computer games wouldn't know their PAL from their NTSC. Sounds to me like the guy enjoyed playing the game and decided to get himself a copy.

Guess what... to the layman, import stores look pretty similar to our gay little, homoerotic PAL stores. You know. Games. In boxes. On the shelves... He probably went in to get a Gamecube, and he came out with a Japanese switched Cube, which I believe is perfectly capable of playing F-Zero.

This thread was started to warn people of slightly iffy service, and to double check that they're buying what they need. I believe it was You who couldn't stop himself cracking off an anti-PAL comment, for the hell of it, when there was no real need to put it in.

                        Christ almighty.

Then I made a joke post about elitism, and you stand to attention, ready to repel all boarders and defend the sacred NTSC tower against a hoard of barbarians.

                        Which don't even exist.

                        Good work, dumbass.

I think both of you are taking extremes, and editing posts after statements have been seen always backfires. Believe me.

Probably best for you both to step away.
