Will Time make you a Retro Gamer?

This thread is really aimed towards people who have buy and keep their current-gen titles.

When the next genertaion of consoles rolls around the re-sale price on current gen games will probably be quite low. If you look at PS2 compared to PS3 at the moment, or even worse, the penies you get for original Xbox games.

What I'm getting at is, if you can't sell your "old" games for what you feel is worth it will you hang on to them? Will you re-visit them? What would you do with them when you can barely sell them, if not collect/keep them?

I always feel that I'll never get the value for a game I think is inherent in it, so keep them. I do have a full time job and disposable income, so it makes it easier.
There are loads of games I wish I'd kept as a youngster tho!

Whereas PS1 games were slow and technically struggling even at their prime, a lot of GC and PS2 games don't have that issue as much. So I think overall, they will hold their value a bit better than PS1 titles.

XBOX is a bit different in that it's on a physically undesirable hardware with limited exclusives (not updated on 360).

This is how I've been since 1984...!

(as in not having to sell the current machine to pay for the next one)

IMO, you should keep the games you regard as good fun, and you should sell the games you don't.

That's probably the most obvious statement ever... but it's too easy to get caught up in the hype and desire around new technology (and selling all your oldies in the process), when all too quickly that tech. becomes the norm and it comes down to a game's underlying gameplay being good or not again.

I just know I'll want to go back and play 20-30 PS2 titles again, so I wont sell those... same way I've got my 20-30 beloved SNES games.
