Ban this man please - He knows how to make me one jealous mofo!

If only I had the balls to get on a bike

hmm... I think one summer I'll treat myself to hiring a really insane sports car and a few laps of the track.

I did a roadtrip to Ireland via Holyhead recently and really got a taste for some Top Gear style euro adventure.

Main worry about doing the ring is tyres, I've got a 645 BMW and had to replace the rear tyres recently at a cost of £250 each (has big 19inch rims with a specialist low profile runflat only made by Bridgestone) , the thought of scrubbing a grands worth of rubber out does worry me a little.

I was playing a few nights ago in Forza. Are all the kerbs really as high as they look in-game? Don't want to be running wide

Merf: Could you buy a cheap set of smaller (17"??) rims and tyres for less than £1000? Then if you go again, it's only the price of a set of tyres.

Then again, you'll only trash your tyres if you push the front or drift the back. If you keep it fast and smooth, you should be ok.

When I bought my Impreza, it had 18s on, so I told the guy to stick the original 16s on because of the price of the tyres. Ride is much better on the 16s too.

good god no, they are the standard fitted size and sit in the big arches nicely, it would look silly with fiesta size wheels on it !!

worry no more - unless you fancy some armco action you won't be anywhere near the limits of grip on your first trip. It's just too scary and overwhelming to 'attack' like an ordinary track. Smooth flowing lines are the order of the day and driving like that increases the chances of making it back in one piece with your pride and joy intact ;-)

The standard of driving is truly shocking on touristenfahren days mind, when it's busy there's nornally numerous crashes on every lap you do, and closures happen regularly for the polizei/medics to attend the worst accidents. Fatalities aren't that uncommon either - 99% of which being bikers sadly.

yep, the track is pretty accurate in Forza2 (much better as in PGR3/4). Some of those curbs you really don't want to take ....

Playing the track on Forza does help you in real, to know where you're going, but the real thing is MUCH more intens, you have to take care about your line, the car/bike and all the others on the track. Especially when it's busy you have to be extra carefull, like Dave allready said, a lot of accidents happen, mostly of people thinking they "know" the track after doing about 5 laps.... big mistake, this track takes time to learn, take it easy in the beginning and make sure you go home in one piece.
