So what are the common crticisms in the magazines (I haven't played the game to know if the score is justified or not so just curious)?

All spot on to me Viking is a little high but have only played it for 10 mins so far

re Mario Kart , they say its forgotten what made the game great in the first place, to me they;ve nailed exactly that for the first time since the original, great tracks, sublime control and online is the best thing to happen to the series since the original 2 player.

i have never been so narked by a review score before, I wonder if they both reviewed it without being able to get properly online and missed the point a bit.

I dont understand how vikings got a 7 and mario kart got a 6. Even if mario kart isnt a huge reinvention and you dont like the wii-functionality, vikings is a cutdown game with an almost non-sensical plot and 0 replay value

Great scores for Bangai-O and Space Invaders....defo getting those anyway.

It's kind of a shame that both Edge and TM gave MK a not so glowing review. Not that I care...it's clearly a brilliant game. I get the feeling that it could be some personal beef over it being aimed at a wider audience, and it not having the 'gamers game' flavour of old.

How? Until this Mario Kart games have got gradually worse since the first. Everyone I've spoke to was expecting it to be mediocre at best, I'm actually surprised, I thought it was quite good...

But there is a definite air in this latest MK that they are reaching out to the Wii sports crowd, and not just people who crave Mario style games.

But yeah...it's a great game anyway.

UEFA Euro 2008 got an 8! Nice! Really enjoyed the demo and it is nice to hear that the full game is not just a shallow cash in.
