All Star Pro Wrestling 3, anyone planning to get this?

...or am I the only person on here who plays puroresu games. I've heard this is better than King of Colosseum and Fire Pro Z, which means it must really be something. If anyone has it, some first impressions would be appreciated.

It's gonna have to go a long way to better Fire Pro D and Virtual Pro.

Tempted but can it beat the best Wrestling game ever. Giant Gram on Dreamcast. Somehow I can't see it.

IMO ASPW2 is better than the games you guys listed, GG's matches don't last long enough, VPW is great but too easy and FPZ is the best game in the series, if you can get past some of the minor problems. So if square-enix have fixed all ASPW2s problems, I can see this being 1 of if not the best wrestling game ever made.

Anyway, it's good to know I'm the not only puroresu fan on here.

I'd rather see a new Gamecube VPW game - But I'll give ASPW a little nose, on your recommendation.

I'm with you on that 1, the GC really needs some quality wrestling games.

Anyway if your interested, theres a ASPW3 (streaming) video here:

Yeah - I want a VPW game on the Cube - It'd need to be a WWE game though as most of the excitement was with tag Ladder matches and the like.

Tell 'em about our No Mercy C.A.W best of three career ending match Greg!

ft: I'd rather not think about that, after I spent hours on that Akiyama CAW, only to watch him get deleted within minutes.

I just had to post on this one.

I buy pretty much every puroresu game that gets released, reputation and reviews be damned, and having just got my hands on All Star 3 this week, I'd have to give it the highest recommendation.

Visually, it's incredible, but we were all expecting that. In terms of gameplay, and the proper 'feel' of a puroresu match, All Star 3 is pushing all the right buttons. The game engine isn't quite as deep as Fire Pro or KOC, but the intensity and flow of the game is incredible.

It's a true puroresu fans' game, and anyone who's ever sat through a Kobashi/Kawada match will recognise the same kind of visceral thrill at their fingertips (if only Kawada was on the game's roster....)

If you've played a lot of wrestling games, you'll know how important sound can be. If gameplay is everything with these games, then the sound is everything else. I'm happy to say that All Star 3 has the best sound I've heard in a puroresu game, with the crowd quiet at the right moments, and making noise on a 2.99 kick-out just like they should. Again, it just all sounds and feels right.

The Power Make mode looks like a lot of fun, and it seems like it's possible to create just about anyone. I haven't dabbled much with the CAW though, so I'm running with first impressions here.

So, if I was pushed, I'd say that All Star 3 was right up there with KOC, but maybe still a peg below Fire Pro D/Z. The best thing about all of this is that All Star 3 seems to be getting better the more I play it, and with another player who is as big a fan of Puroresu as you are and likes to work a good match, you'll probably be able to taste the most accurate videogame representation of the puroresu world there's ever been.

                    Yeah. Go buy it.

Is the system in ASPW3 a lot different to the first one? I thought ASPW1 was completely wank in every department.

Fire Pro and Toukon Retsuden 4 are teh daddies.

I'm exactly the same Thanks for the first impressions, as you've already got the game could you confirm a few things for me:

How many CAWs per memory card? I know you can only have 4 loaded at 1 time, but is the total amount only limited by how much space is on the card?

If you've had more experience with the Power Make mode, could you guesstimate how long it would take to make decent Kawada, Kojima, Tenryu etc. CAWs?

                          Is Tenzans new entrance in?

I think most people agree that ASPW1 is ****e, most of the wrestlers didn't even have half there complete movestes (No TTD and Buffalo Sleeper for Tenzan ). ASPW2 was in massive improvement in almost every department, and by the sound of things 3 is even better.

My copy should be here tomorrow, I was looking forward to it before, but now the wait is just killing me.

Thanks again for the first impressions biglime
