What I'd love is something that could change the region of my NTSC-U Wii to Europe, so that my channels were Europe-centric, but left the drive / loader on NTSC-U so I could easily play my NTSC-U games. *sigh*

The hack will apparently allow the following features:

*No healthwarning (the blackscreen is the time it needs to load the channels)
      *region free Wii games
      *region free GC games
      *region free channels
*start the build-in rescue menu when Y is pressed on the first GC controller
*rescue menu patch to boot everything not just diag-discs
      *No mainmenu BGM

I almost had a go at doing that to my Wii using various tools, but as it was me working it out and there was a good chance of me bricking it I wimped out.

Bah. Only just noticed Freeloader no longer works on my JPN machine. Can't play Ghost squad now.
I upgraded the firmware without thinking about it.

The file has been released, but it only works for PAL 3.2 firmware at the mo

There are files to 'downgrade' the Wii firmware...

Oh hey, OP linked to my blog, awesome.

Yeah, this new system menu hack is a bit rough round the edges, and compatibility is not 100% but I imagine in the next few months it'll only improve. I'm leaving it for a while.

Of course, Lewie. Remember Stan's Partially Used Bargain Basement over on GR?

                      Ditto.

The Hombrew Channel does exactly what I need for now, but as each day passes the 'scene' is digging deeper and closer to their target!

I can see the Wii falling into the same path as the PSP.
With the Scene ahead of Nintendo every time new firmware is released!

Put this on my US wii today and it works perfect, only got Naruto EX 2 to play atm but it works perfect.

I dunno if its a new version or what, i just got version 1.5, anyone else tried it yet?

I am using bushing's Menuloader atm as this does not affect your actual NAND firmware flash memory, rather it boots as an application (Hackmii.org). I'm delighted with it as its allowing me to play all my old PAL and JPN GC games I've been deprived of.

I thought id best add a reply to the above.
There is bushings menuloader and crediars one called 'StarFall'
if youre not aware of what NAND is or anything of the sort, avoid Starfall for now. That one writes to the NAND and isnt recommended as of yet.
But to be honest, these new menu loaders are pretty much work in progress apps/hacks that are out there for people to work on.

Gecko is great but doesn't work for GC games, which is quite a big deal for me.
