2007

really was an AWESOME years for games!

That's silly. It was and still is by far and away 1998.

1994, lots of formats still supported, 16 bit consoles at thier prime and the last good period for Arcade games.

That list isn't too bad to be fair , but 1995 is my best year in gaming . To have Panzer Dragoon, Lunar II , SEGA Rally, VC and VF II all inthe same year was pure gaming magic

Yep, not a bad list there. And while i do tend to look at the retro years such as 1997-98 and 92 as being the golden years for gaming, i do agree that 2007 has probably eclisped them with some of the stellar releases we had last year.

2007 was great but nah, best ever was one of the mid 90s for sure.

Not a single word on the Neo Geo, blegh! Anyway, not a bad list but 2005 on no.2 and no 1995 is kinda ridicilous.

Great years? ...

1991: The 16bit machines were pumping out hit-after-hit - and the arcades received Street Fighter 2.

1996: The Playstation & Saturn were having a war - and gamers were receiving tons of great games. The N64 was released with Mario 64 etc.... Plus.. the arcades were wowing people with brilliant 3D games from Namco & Sega.

I can't think of any other amazing years for gaming. Sure... every year has its events - but this decade hasn't really been that breathtaking.

I'd go with 1996

Hmmm yeah 1998 was bloody awesome but I still like 2007. It's given me CoD4 which I've spent 6 months playing!

And then things like Orange Box, Bioshock, Super Mario Galaxy all just kick ass!

As good as 2007 was, it has nothing on 1998. Most of the great games in 2007 were pretty much confined to the 360. Whereas back in 1998, there were plenty of great games spread across the Saturn, PS1 and N64. 1998 also saw the launch of the Dreamcast, too XD!

Not only that, the arcade scene was well and truly alive in 1998 whereas in 2007 it was all but dead. Its still is

Oh 07 was the best year for first person shooters no doubt. Ony downside was the lopsided release dates - I mean nothing for 3/4 of a year then 10 absolutely superb shooters turn up at once.

Shouldn't complain though, the cost of upgrading my rig to play Crysis/Bioshock was well worth it.

1998 for me - the year I bought my first PS and I look at my games collection and so many of the good ones and others I enjoy came out that year too. A great year to have started serious gaming.

I have no idea what my best year for gaming is but that video article thing is a little ridiculous by opening with a year that they say was great for gaming because of all the utter **** released in it that almost saw an end to gaming.
