GTA4 Online Not Working

My brother has tried to get online with this yet when he attempts to select the Multiplayer option it says something along the lines of "this PSN account is not valid to go online" (very roughly remembered. It won't let him in basically).

He is setup as a sub-account to my master account and he has never had any problems getting online prior to this (only CoD4 admittedly). I can get access to the online sections no problem and I've even created a new account which also has no trouble.

The only issue I can think may be his date of birth (he's 17) but I've checked all the parental settings and can't find anything that would prevent him playing. If it was a straight up date of birth issue, surely the console would prevent him playing the game at all, rather than simply blocking out the online portion.

Am I missing something?

Yeah. My main account has been online as has a "fake" one that I created to test so all is well there. The more I think about it, the more I reckon it must be an age verification thing done Rockstar side.

It will be and fair play to them for doing it. It seems they are going out of their way to make sure they have done their bit to stop under 18's getting it.

If it is the age rating thing, I've thought of a possible solution. Purchase the US version. I normally get the US version of PS3 games anyway and I believe the M rating in the US is recommended for 17+ years and not legally enforcable so hopefully that will accept his account.

I can't get on at the moment either, says I need to be signed in and can't access the servers. I am signed in and the shop and browser work fine. May be something up with the PS3 side of things at the moment

Not working online for me today says connecting to server provider then tells me cant connect please try later..can get on the store and internet on my PS3 ok though??

servers can't cope, at all

keep trying and it might let you in. I'd be surprised if it improves, they already have your money and there's no profit in it for them.

There will be a profit in it for them when the DLC starts, so I`m sure the servers are being looked at.

I tried about 8 times last night and it wouldn't connect. Then a mate sent an invite and it worked perfectly after that... I don't think they're down, just screwed up
