Need No More Heroes help (Can't find of answer on Gamefaqs)

Essentially, I just unlocked Naomi and Thunder Ryu's places in the game and...do I have to buy all the other weapons/workouts in order to unlock the others for purchase? Or do they just 'appear' the more you progress through the game?

And yeah, I KNOW that the game is older than some of the others (like GTA4) but I just started playing it ^^: It happens.

I think they unlock as time goes on.

Really? Okay, thanks! ^^ btw so far the game is awesome for anyone out there who doesn't have a copy. Its not a GTA4 clone or anything like that (The gameplay is kinda like...a violent, more in-depth version of Kingdom Hearts if that makes any sense).
