can you save during play on XBLA games?

basically ive just downloaded TMNT off marketplace and was wondering is there a way of saving where im upto in the game?

Nope.

The Sega games like Sonic, Ecco and Streets of Rage 2 have this function but most don't.

bugger, at least on the wii u can exit out to the wii menu when ur playing that creates a kind of save point.

These aren't emulations with save states. Plenty of games do let you save if the dev.s coded a save function but it depends on the game.
