They'll never let this go, even if they totally should. They desperately need something to regain some clout after everything they did...only for the game to come out and perform worse than Skull & Bones.
Or maybe scrap everything and do something more in line with the first game, a medium/large adventure based around simple mechanics and charming characters.Comment

It does feel like a very similar situation where they feel they can't cancel it because they've spent so much on it. But it's 100% doomed, it'll be beset with Ubisoft game design hangovers and was already a million miles away from being the sequel fans wanted, god knows how many of those still exist too after over 20 years. If a takeover of Ubi ever comes to fruition this will be the first thing on the chopping block.Comment

Sunken costs fallacy. I doubt they'll ever recoup the costs up to now if they sell 1 million copies, if they need to continue development on current platforms or even make it crossgen with the next console generation, it will be a massive financial loss.Comment
