    Oddworld Strangers Wrath remake [PSN]

Lorne Lanning, president of Oddworld Inhabitants, has confirmed to GamesIndustry.biz that the studio is working on new …

That's about as much as you're getting at the moment, unfortunately. Wonder if they'll return to the style of the initial Abe games?

I read about this on gamecentral this morning. I hope they do another quirky riff on a theme, like Stranger's Wrath.

I hope its a sequel to Stranger's Wrath. The ending left it open. :/

Playing Stranger's Wrath for the first time at the mo. Amazing game, and so now an Oddworld update is high on my list of wants.

Great that the main guy Lanning is on board, but when he says they're working on 'stuff' he might not even mean a game! Hope he does though.

Would be nice to see them get on with their Oddworld "Quintology" that was promised in the instruction manual for Abe's Oddyssey, but only saw two titles.

Good news though, no matter what comes of it.

always curates egg's these games, they spend a long time and a lot of money developing them, they got decent reviews but didn't sell many.

I know sales isn't a benchmark of quality but unless they do something fundamentally different this time no point repeating that exercise again, especially as the market has moved on a bit since the last release.

Wasn't there a lot of fuss when Stranger's Wrath was released because EA published it, but didn't put anywhere near their usual level of advertising into it? Or something?

Oh this would be nice for another Strangers Wrath style game. Haven't played it for years and never did finish it.

Yeah, they left it to die. Mainly because they couldn't get the their PS2 port to work (which like HL2 was down to EA and not to OI) and then didn't want to spend a lot of money pushing an XBox exclusive title.

Great to hear one's coming though. Lorne Lanning sounded so pissed off with EA over this debacle that he said the story would continue by some other media. Mind you, he did like to tlak some twaddle at times.

Yeah, he talked a couple of years back about making the third Oddysee title into a CGI movie if I remember rightly. Maybe if they get some proper advertising behind the next title it'll fare better.

I can't even begin to imagine how fantastic an Oddworld title would/will look with current tech.

going from fuzzy memory here but my recolection is there was a Pete Molyneaux/Bullfrog style hype on the PS1 games, they promised all sorts of AI & story and it ended up as a 2d platformer with a fart/belch button.

When did Bullfrog hype and not deliver? Gods among developers imo. Nearly everything they made was gold. *remembers Dungeon Keeper and Theme Hospital happy memories*

Nearly always? I mean most of their games turned out good, but they were always short from what was hyped.

I wasn't really as into games back then- so i never saw any hype.

Just amazing games Some of the best i've ever played. I wish they'd remake dungeon keeper and theme hospital for DS.

Why theme park (their worst imo) and not theme hospital . But yeah, slightly off topic

Wonder if they'll go with a completely new character again for this one? I hope so, always nice to have something fresh.

Confirmed that Just Add Water (the people behind Gravity Crash) are working on it

I'm guessing this will be a PSN / XBLA title
