Colin McRae Dirt 2 played some more of this tonight on the 360, just a few random races, got to level 17 and won the Asian X Games. Just been moving up to Pro races, and the sheer sense of speed on the Pro Level on the Trailblazing races are truly scary.

Peggle on the 360, tried to complete some more levels on the challenge mode, was tempted to get Peggle Nights seeing its only 400 points but for now I'm leaving it.

Bejeweled 2 another XBLA title, and yes it's simple but gets addictive at times.

Super Street Fighter II HD Remix had a quick go on this, but man alive I was never good at the ordinary Street Fighter II and this speeds it all up and the characters seem to be more aggressive towards you this time round. It's simply years since I have played any SF at all.

I have now got a Wii and got it set up over the weekend, so after carefully gathering together a cheap game library for it, I sat down and played some games.

New Super Mario Bros Wii: Well it's old school Mario, more akin to the SNES over the NES, just; anyhow, like the Old Mario's I found myself getting killed pretty often, I have just never quite got that whole jumping mechanic quite right. It throws more lives at you on this than any other Mario I can remember. Got to World 1-4 at the moment and that's it.

Ghost Squad: Have always loved the Sega Light Gun Shooters, and this was always a favourite in the arcade, was always gutted the Dreamcast died, cause I'm sure it could of handled this game. Still it's great fun and I'm a big fan.

Boom Blox : Bash Party: Now I can see why people have stuck Wii-motes through TV screens, it's fun and I enjoyed a quick play of it. Can be had for a tenner, so if you have a Wii, get this and have a laugh.

I've been recovering from the avalanche of great games released over this past 2 months and have just about mopped them all up.

It's taken me just over a month to complete Modern Warfare 2 and GTA: Episodes from Liberty City and loved them both but I feel more compelled to go back to GTA rather than Modern Warfare 2. MW2 is brilliant but I think it's a case of there's still more games out there for me to play and it's very familiar to the COD4.

However my time sink since its release is Forza 3, putting in over 30 hours of the career and I'm just about to hit the end of year 5 and driver level 50.

As Christmas is coming I imagine that if I'm lucky I may get the odd one for the big day, so I'm going on a hiatus before buying any more. For the next 3 weeks, I think I'll dedicate some time to finish of the career in Forza 3, might start up one of the odd few Arcade games I've yet to complete and of course as I'll have some time off over Christmas I'll be firing up some of the classics in my household!

Borderlands and uncharted 2, both very fun.

The first is obviously better in co-op, my friend doesn't currently have a headset though so we were communicating via PSN messages (ugh). I think he'll be getting one soon. We got to the
and it just started getting ridiculously hard, I think we need to grind a fair bit before returning. Great fun though. I think it'd rock in 4 player.

U2 is just great but the platforming sections annoy me a little bit sometimes, some of the graphics though, oh my god. Simply amazing. Jaw dropping. The use of colour in some parts is just fantastic.

I bought GTA IV and Magna Carta 2 this week. GTA IV makes a nice change from all my arcade ports for Saturn and PS2 - Magna Carta 2 is a great RPG imo too.

Been playing GTAIV Lost & The Damned which i've now finished, loved it, preffered the added emphasis on rock and the grittiness of the bikers compared to the Niko/Roman story.

Since finishing that i've been playing through Ico again, mainly to show my lass how great it is

Not sure if this should be on the similar retro thread but it's six months since I did my last one (the rather good PS2 Maximo sequel Army of Zin) I felt the need for a colourful 3D adventure/platformer.

I liked the original Jak & Daxter but never as much as Ratchet & Clank but as I've done all the latter's best PS2 games I settled on PS2 Jak II: Renegade.

For an adult: cringe worthy, although decently voice acted, dialogue and I was quickly reminded just how annoying and unamusing Daxter was in the original. Gameplay though, even the sub-GTA vehicle stealing mechanic, is good fun. Only gripe is that the camera is particularly lazy and often refuses to rotate sufficiently making certain sections far harder than they should be.

Just pretty much Street Fighter 4 mostly only training mode with Dhalsim and trying to get timing down for combos and nailing the teleport's to a par so i can use them well in a match

I really liked Jak II, much as it obviously was a kids' cartoon - but then I gave up when I hit the mission where you have to kill multiple tough enemies before they walk all the way through the city to a certain location. One of the worst difficulty spikes I've ever played, and had me screaming all kinds of interesting obscenities. Too hard, wildly more so than anything that came before it and simply not fun. Shame, I was enjoying it quite a bit up until that point.

                        Now there's a cross-over I'd like to see.

Haven't got to that bit although it's pretty obvious from the plot that is what is going to happen eventually. The shooting elements are a pretty repetitive particularly with the limited weaponry you have (unlike Ratchet & Clank). But apart from that, especially when it sticks more to the platforming, I'm remembering why I really liked the original.

The difficulty level in the tasks themselves isn't that high (so far) but the distance between save or the (unmarked) continue points means you have to maintain a pretty high level of perfection much of the time. That is demanding, in a good way, but it doesn't help that they added a few cheap elements to up the ante as well.

Heavenly Sword - owned it for a while but only ever played it for 10 mins. Had another go last night and played for ages. Kai's bits are the best.

Quantum of Solace - finished on Agent difficulty having been stuck to the point of switch off some weeks ago. After Veteran MW2 it was a cake walk.

Words with Friends (iPhone) : Too many games on the go, got it down to half that now, enjoying it more!

Pixeljunk Shooter (PS3) : Reminds me why I love gaming, utterly charming, fun, enjoyable and easy to get on with, never feel like I'm struggling to play this.

Bit of a quiet week really, that's about all I've played! Just 45 minutes of 1vs100 on top of that, which bored me to tears if I'm honest!

Just bought a wicked game for the PS3, it's about a great golfer who drives round shagging whores, uses violence involving metal bars, crashes his car and evading the police. Go buy a copy, it's called Tiger Woods PGA Tour 09.
