Star Wars: The Force Unleashed 2

Picked this up cheap and it's incredibly short so I can see why it struggled at full price. Despite that I do feel the reviews were a little harsh on it as I've had great fun blasting through it and it's a lovely looking game. Certainly shouldn't have been a franchise killer, I prefer it to the first game

I have played one case on LA Noire in the last week. One case.

Finally got round to finishing Fallout 3 this afternoon after buying it on release day nearly 3 years ago. I guess I had been putting it off as I never wanted it to end....stupid I know. Nearly 90 hours on that playthrough and only a few achievements missed which are saved for the "bad karma" run

This week I finished Dead Space 2, played a little Mafia II (meh), and finally finished the story mode of the superb Defence Grid (still have to get better rankings though.

Apart from that I started Rise Of The Argonauts today, and it seems a bit slow and ponderous with lots of dialogue and not much action. I'll stick it out for a while longer and see if it picks up.

            Call of Juarez: The Cartel
It opens pretty craply. The initial sequence is a dodgy car chase sequence from half way through the game that makes no sense why it's there, likely just to try and get some spectacle. Almost all of the charm of the first 2 games is gone and the new trio of characters are immensely unlikeable. There's a lot of generic LA street action until around 2/3's through when you come across Juarez which is a ghost town now and roughly laid out exactly like in the last game. From here things improve a lot which just rams home how much of a mistake setting it in a modern city is. COJ4 NEEDS to be back in the old west.

            Cars 2
Made for kids or not I love these games though this fourth game is by different developer little has changed. The hub has gone but controls remain largely the same. It's very clean and solid and maintains the surprising quality the dev responsible showed with last years Toy Story 3 game, the weapons don't break the gameplay of the earlier games either and the tracks are very well designed. Great fun

Just Bastion at the moment, which is fun but not something I'm playing for more than an hour at a time. Mostly reading on the Kindle.

More Borderlands this weekend on the 2nd play-through, got to level 50 now.
Pirates on the iPad, I've not played this game before and it plays great on the iPad

I finished American McGee's Alice today, yay! I wasn't really expecting it to be much more than an alright game, but ended up loving it. At a few points I wondered if I would actually be able to finish the game due to getting killed so much at certain points, but it was worth persevering for the sense of achievement and to progress.

I'd seen a few teasers for the sequel when they were first released and thought the concept looked interesting, but after playing the first game and going back to watch all the trailers to date I can't help but get really excited to play it for myself.

Just back from 3 weeks in France - nothing but eating drinking.

Before that - nothing - it's the Summer.

Now I'm back - nothing - it's the Summer, will probably get back on the horse sometime in September.

Torchlight (surprised at how enjoyable it is to play considering the randomly generated dungeons are pretty bland), Full House Poker and GTA IV.

This is why God invented black-out curtains, you know?

I never finished Golden Sun. Think I got to the last boss but, when you die, you have to hammer buttons through about half an hour of text. Couldn't be bothered to do that again.

I'm still playing Half-Life. Not all that far from the end so I may as well finish it now but the game, which I once loved, is a real chore. Too long, drawn-out, dull fights and it just... keeps... going... Things I very much recognised in and criticised the sequel for and yet I didn't really see them in the original Half-Life the first time around. Less patience as I got older, I guess.
