What has everyone been playing this week?

Been having a few rounds of Everybody's Golf: World Tour on PS3. Bit surprising to see that they've patched Move support into a game that's generally no longer available at retail.

GTA: Chinatown Wars on the iPad. I'm really quite enjoying firebombing clowns that won't pay their protection money and selling copious amount of Smack. Fantastic wholesome entertainment for all the family.

This week I will be mostly mopping up quests in Skrim. Also finally bought Super Mario 3D Land (my poor 3DS was looking pretty dusty), and it's ace!

The background conversations and in-game dialog in this are what separate it from games like Skyrim. The story is interesting and compelling. Still love it. Off to get the Dalish Elves on-board ready to take on the Blight now. Will take a break after that before doing Awakenings etc.

Hehe, just can't get into it, stuff what people say about it being rock-hard, I was expecting Ninja Gaiden on steroids but it's painfully slow and looking at it, it's stupidly easy;

Approach enemy and raise shield
Enemy moves in and hits shield
Strike enemy = enemy dead

Only thing is though the controls are crap, I died loads of times just because I wasn't quite in line with the enemy, I fully appreciate that later on it might speed up with more variation in enemy attacks but if it can't get the basics right there is something wrong.

Click the thumbstick to target/lock on to enemy and never miss again. Your fault for skipping the comprehensive in-game tutorial.

I picked that up in the tutorial but why should I have to press a button to target lock then faff around with one of the sticks to change target.
I appreciate this is a game and not 'real life' but holding up a shield should give you some sort of protection in oh I don't know around a 100 degree area around your body without having to re-adjust, the protection area offered is simply far too small.

I initially gave up on this game but this board convinced me to give it another go and it ended up being my favourite game of the last few years.

If you lock on to your target then your shield will block you 100% of the time (unless someone hits you harder than your stamina can handle).

Funny enough just dug out Gradius 5 tonight for my USA ps3. Been playing SSX, Under Defeat HD on 360 and NG3 this week. Love the combat on NG3 but must admit once done will be straight back to first two!

All great games that cost me about a fiver in total. Also started Rayman Origins which is class, and I have Kid Icarus that I'm gonna start next week. After barely touching any game this year (beyond a bit of Daytona USA here and there) I feel I have got my gaming appetite back once again.

I don't really consider it a game but yeah Draw Something has been rocking my iPhone since I installed it a week or so ago too...

I got to turn 80 or something in three days with my ex then we broke up and he ended the game (or it ended when he deleted me on Facebook). That actually annoyed me more than the break-up/facebook deletion/abuse.

BUT this week I unlocked the final "Expert Ghost" in Time Trails on Mario Kart Wii so I've completed that (well unlocked all Karts and Characters) and now moved onto Super Mario Galaxy (64 Stars in 5 Days!!!! GO! Team Kate!). Hoping to complete this over the Easter Weekend then next week it's New Play Control: Pikmin or might try pick up a SNES to play Earthbound? or Yoshi's Island? Exciting times... :/
