My copy arrived today and I'm very happy with it.
While its not as graphically accomplished as other shooters like Ikaruga or R-Type its certainly a fun game.
A good bargain buy and the fact that the menus are in English helps too.

I recieved my copy of Star Soldier two days ago and I really like the game. The problem is that I'm not good at it. I can get through stage one to three easily but it's getting a lot harder after that. I just hate it when I lose al my power-ups ft:

Also, the controller isn't really helping me

It's a very good game though.

              Buys a game for $35,-

              ...

Then shells out another $75,- to play the game properly

Maybe you're right but I'd still suck

I use a Hori pad for all my shmups and they are considerably cheaper than the sticks.

Maybe I should buy a Hori pad. Is the d-pad responsive and precise? Star Soldier is the only shmup that I have on my GameCube but I'm getting Shikigami No Shiro 2 when it arrives.

Get a Hori pad. They rock.

                    That's all.

The hori pad is really awesome, but since the Star Soldier weapon is more powerful when you rapid-fire instead of holding it down you really need the stick.

                      My review is here:

Unless you rig your pad with an auto-fire.

                            Or buy a woodpecker.

Is that Shikigami 2 any good?
I've looked at screenshots and reviews for the PS2 version, anybody got any opinions on it?

As for the hori pad, I have one and its great for Viewtiful Joe and Ikaruga.

Where did you guys buy Star Soldier? I'd like it, but I don't wanna pay a lot of money for a budget release.
