Wait, are you asking what the 'purest gaming experience', or which game you return to the most?

    Two very different things, there.

Plus you can't hotlink those images, so we have no idea what you're talking about.

            Devil May Cry
Probably my fave game of all time. Just feels perfect to me. Everything about it screams quality, and it's the most "pure" gaming experience for me. I wish CAPCOM hadn't made the dreadful sequel though...

I think Metal Slug series would be perfect if it ran at 60fps. It's a great game, but I would of liked it a bit smoother.

By purest do you mean playing it on the verge of addiction where everything just blanks out while your in front of the monitor?

If so, then yeah ive had moments in my life when i'm completely in a weird twilight zone. Sitting in front of space invaders on the 2600. Got so that i was progressing screen to screen for hours. Peripheral vision became a total blur. I was sitting so close to the screen and playing for so long that it felt like i was in virtual reality...kinda hard to explain but it was like when you looked around, up or down all that was there was the playing field (probly done untold damage to me eyes!). When i eventually finished a session i was disorientated and generally screwed.

Same thing has happened with R-type, Layer Section, Nights, Miner 2049er, Speedball 2. Thers just something in them that actually hypnotises me. Hasnt happened in a while...although Burnout 2 is trying its hardest.

                    Too many to list.

Super Street Fighter 2 X and KoF '98 spring to mind right away.

                    Then there's Perfect Dark".

                    Then, more recently F-Zero GX...

                    The list can go on.

I kinda used to zone in Garou: MoTW. I haven't touched it in years though...
Umm, Rez was definitely an experience. And there's something to be said for Ico.
                      Mario Kart...
Funny, out of all the thousands of games that I've played (it must be thousands...) only those ones really stand out to me.
I could name some adventure games, but they don't really fit into the category here...

                        Night driving on the VCS.

It was so hard with all these white blobs coming toward you at high speed. Once you got into the zone however |I could play it for hours.

Nearest thing to 'zone' game I've played recently would be frequency on PS2.

Final Fantasy 7 did that for me, amazing story, magic system just perfect for me.

Street fighter Champion Edition..I spent so many hours playing this I had to graft a new set of thumbs on me to replace the old ones

Buck Rogers on the sega megadrive
Took awhile to get into it, but hell this is just as good if not more better than FF7 for me..I still play it every now and then and will do for years to come

Street Fighter 2 Turbo on the Snes finally completing it with zangief. I'd been playing it for about a week and a half with just him as I'd done it with everbody else. Then it all just clicked....

Mario Kart on the snes...I was so focused on Rainbow Road on 150cc that the colours started to blend and I swear it was like that psychadelic bit in 2001: Space odyssey.

Nearest to Zone gaming lately was actually going back to the snes and finally completing Unirally. Not many games nowadays can get me as focused as the good ol' days.

                              street fighter III 3rd strike
i can just play it through over and over again, and i only ever use one character.

                              ridge racer
the first one. only one real track meant that after a while it was just down to improving technique, style and times, instead of beating the cpu.

                              Tetris
                              obviously hypnotic.
