Wiiware: Gradius Rebirth

I'm really glad a Gradius game is coming out for Wiiware but i do hope its a proper one and its good. If its just a remake of the original Gradius with better graphics i would by it but be disapointed. Really i hope its another proper Gradius game, like a follow up to Gaiden or a real Gradius V (don't get me wrong i didn't dislike Gradius V, it was great but it felt like a Treasure game, not like Gradius), but looking at that screenshot i think its not going to be.

Downloaded this today. Not much to say as it's standard Gradius stuff. It's all very 16-bit. It looks and sounds like a SNES game.
There's two modes: standard game and score attack. Score attack is one credit only and saves your scores to local or Wi-FI scoreboards. You've got 4 weapon layouts and no new weapons in Rebirth that I can see, just your standard speed ups, laser, ripple, double etc. No weapon edit either.
It's got 5 stages in all, and it's quite a bit shorter and easier than the older games. The first stage is very similar to the first one in Gradius, the second stage is like the first stage in Salamander.
You can use a Gamecube controller, classic controller or the Wiimote (Rebirth only uses 2 buttons). 1 Player only and no widescreen mode unfortunatly.Last edited by lurch996; 02-09-2008, 21:48.
