    Bored of FZero GX?

Had the above mentioned game for about 3 weeks played it for a week, forgot about it for a week, tried to play it this week. Just cannot be bothered with it, where's the innovation? Why get Sega to program it when it dosen't really deviate too far from previous Nintendo outings.
Because it seems too similar to the previous versions, I find I'm bored quicker.
Why do the vehicles look so dull, design wise & texture/lighting?
To me they look at odds with the tracks.

    Fingers crossed for Mario Kart

This seems a little strange to me.

Surely you knew what you were getting when you bought it? Did you really expect it to be very different from X?

IMO they have improved just about every aspect from X so I am very happy with it. Plus the added difficulty has given it a very long lifespan for me - I am less than half way through doing the stuff I want to do.

If you expected it to deviate too far from previous Nintendo outings you were bound to be disapointed.

I have read 2 topics on 2 forums in the last 2 minutes...

Mario Golf Toadstool Tour is rubbish - Its too different from the N64 version.

F-Zero GX is boring. Its too similar to the previous versions.

The answer? Developers (or Nintendo or Sega) can't win!

F-Zero X with more scenery ain't a problem for me, I still find the older versions of alot of Nintendo's stuff addictive as hell, in many cases, rarely do their sequels seem to do the predecessors justice, they're still damn good games in their own right tho. imo

It's when the lose the "Nintendo Magic" I feel dissapointed, for me WaveRace Blue Storm is thus far the only to do that. So I won't complain about Nintendo's Output and Mario Kart DD looks the dogs!

i never played f zero X, but i loved the snes and gba versions.

i dont really see what so great about GX...its quite good fun on novice and standard, but on expert and master it just pissed me off.
too many vehicles in a small space, most of them attempting to smash you off the track(....or just doing it by accident)

its nice in short bursts, but i just cant play it for more than 20mins without wanting to smash things up.

I've put something like 170+ hours into it and I'm still no where near bored.

I still have 3 AX racers to unlock and around 20 staff ghosts to beat. After I've done all that I will complete Master with everyone to unlock all the endings.

I'll be so damn happy to claim that I've beat everything on the game.

Then I can spend 100% of my time on the TTs. 8)

BTW: I played F-Zero, F-Zero X and F-Zero fGBA to death also so I'm a big fanboy anyhow - I love more of the same. I only wish they'd make a 2D F-Zero for the current home console.

I am the complete opposite - it is ok on novice and standard, but it hardly feels you are actually in a race when you can just boost three times down the finishing straight and fly past everyone.

Once you step up to expert and master it actually feels like you are racing other real people - they boost when you expect them to, if you miss a boost you are punished by some of them, they fight you and each other - I have witnessed some brutal scraps between enemy racers and you get a genuine rewarding sensation if you manage to beat them.

Nothing beats fighting your way through 30 racers tightly packed on a thin section of road at 1300km/h

                  Bored of F-Zero GX? Yes!

There's that special F-Zero something missing, I feel. Some of the tracks are rather poor and the physics are a tad wrong. And the music... Oh don't get me started...

It could have been a lot worse, but it just can't quite reach the heady heights of X.

I don't think my N64 will ever be able to go into retirement. Curse you Nintendo for being so ****ing awesome circa 1996 - 1998!

This is what Fzero is about and this is why I CAN'T wait for my US copy!

I initially thought the same, but have changed my mind over the past week or so - while still fighting my way through the cups on Master difficulty.

The physics I am used to and perfectly happy with now - I used to curse the fact I spent half the time falling off the track at seemingly arbitary moments when I first started playing but it just never seems to happen anymore...

I also felt the track design was lacking - and while I still wish there were more thin sections to the tracks (there are hardly any.. one 1 in the entire game springs to mind) they are mostly great in their own right. It takes time for them to grow on you - now I pretty much know every track in the game (bar the AX ones) I have my favourites just as I did with X.

The music is not really a problem for me (but when I do listen to it it isnt very good), I dont really pay much attention to music when playing normally anyhow.. I am concentrating too hard on the action .

its the attacks and aggressive nature of the other competitors that annoys me.

I thought the original F-zero was made to be a futuristic continuation of F1. And it felt like it, it was about precision driving and racing.
GX feels like a totally different game because of the number of vehicles, and the attacks. (the tracks too, but most of them i dont mind)

To me it feels like the emphasis has shifted from racing to battling, and i dont like that much.
(dont misunderstand me though, its a good game, just not great)

You are definately right there Fuddle, but for most of us this move happened when X came out.

Winning cups on the harder difficulties was not just about racing well but also taking out your rivals - something GX has continued.

Battling is certainly a major part of the game and one that cannot really be avoided.

I think in some ways though its effectiveness has been toned down a little from X - you can no longer use the attacking move to corner and take out half your comeptitors every time you go around a corner .

F-Zero X had much more worse tracks than GX.

Yeah - the X cup had thousands of them .
