House Of The Dead: Overkill - Wii goes Grindhouse...

More HotD = woohoo from me, but 'Slow Mofo time'? :/

    Trailer - http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=YKUD2sLE5rM

    Blurb from Sega -

The House of the Dead: OVERKILL™ charges you with mowing down waves of infected, blood-thirsty zombies in a last-ditch effort to survive Bayou City and uncover the horrific truth behind the origins of The House of the Dead.

Survival horror as it’s never been seen before! A pulp-style take on the classic SEGA light-gun shoot ‘em up franchise. Back when the famous Agent G was still fresh out of the academy, he teamed up with hard-boiled bad-ass Agent Washington to investigate stories of mysterious disappearances in small-town Louisiana. Little did they know what blood-soaked mutant horror would await them in the streets and swamps of Bayou City.

    Features

    • Pulp Funk Horror
Zombie cool, one of the most popular shooter classics injected with a whole new retro b-movie look.

    • An utterly in-your-face zombie-dismembering blast
Non-stop light-gun style action on Wii, blow apart zombies for high-score thrills.

    • Superb co-op action on Wii
Bring a friend and play the game as intended in your own buddy action movie as two of the meanest mofos in video gaming.

    • Relentless, gore-drenched, over-the-top action
Only the coolest, most cold-hearted agent’s going to keep his head against the zombie flood. Use “Slow-Mofo Time” to make the perfect head-popping shot and “Evil Eye” to spot moments of opportunity that’ll send the whole environment up in flames.

    • Wiimote reactions
Get knee-deep in the dead with motion-sensitive Wii-controls. Shuck a shotgun and when the zombies get too close, pistol whip jaws off or cave some heads in with the stock of your pump-action – all in stomach-churning close-up.

Only trouble with slowdown in lightgun shooters is that it can make them insanely easy (like virtua cop 3 was)

Hoping they spend time ensuring that this is a lengthy shooter. UC is probably the lengthiest shooter I've ever played and even that wasn't amazingly long.

Looks quite promising... isn't Headstrong the new name for the guys that did Crush for PSP?

          A rather apt title...

Really loving the style of the trailer, but the graphics look pretty ropey. I hope it's more Umbrella Chronicles than Wii HOTD though.
Don't look at me, I'm irrelevant.

The Wii has been the system for light gun games this generation. This looks good fun as well. Great trailer but it would be nice to see it at proper resolution.

Yes the wii has had some good lightgun games so far and this will add to it. I guess Sega were inpressed enough with the Ghost Squad numbers to give this the green light. Now Capcom take note POINT BLANK PLEASE!!!

This sounds cool. Having played Ghost Squad and Brolly Chronicles, I'd like something along the lines of Chronicles, as I like it to have a bit more meat on the bones (no pun intended).

Really enjoyed the camp-value of HotD2, so a 70s B-movie seems like a perfect fit; but it could go horribly wrong. We can dream.

Yeah Capcom take note while Namco Bandai give us Point Blank

No excuses but i was watching the new Dead Rising video and was thinking the Wii must not have been capable of more than 10 zombies at once. It totally slipped my mind that Namco Bandai even existed the suport for the Wii and DS has been so poor.

Infact this brings up a question, what happened to Baten Kaitos: Origins?

Didn't that come out on the GC, or am I thinking of something else?

Possibly Killer7 or the cel-shaded beta for HotD3 that came out on Xbox?

I like the humour - and the 80s vibe is cool. It's hard to tell what the visuals are really like - but I doubt it will be great looking.

Seams like it did i didn't even know the Gamecube has a second version, i am guessing it never made it to the UK. I always knew it as the DS version.

Yes i agree that this could turn out to be one of the best HOTD console games.
