24th October: Madness

I can't remember the last time so many potentially great games were all being released on the same day! Even the incredible end to 2007 spread the games over several weeks (although even here we have Fallout3, CoD5, Prince of Persia etc coming in soon after).

A quick scan through Gameplay's site:

So what will you be picking up, and what can wait until later?

Before reviews are in I'm opting for Farcry2 and Fable2 on the day, and later probably Dead Space and...getting a PS3 for LBP

I'm only getting LBP. I'll pick up FarCry2 on the PC, but probably not day 1 unless it's really cheap. I see no point in stockpiling games. We all know how quiet it gets after Xmas, at which point I'll be picking up titles second hand - from your list, Dead Space may be worth it second hand early next year if it gets good reviews. Fable2, well I'll wait for the verdict here a few weeks after launch, once the hyperbole has died down. If you're getting other games that day, is there any point getting Fable2 immediately given the amount of time needed to play it? Or get Fable2 and nothing else.

Between here and Xmas, I'm only planning on getting LBP, Gears 2, and SOCOM (for Xmas). And maybe FarCry2 as I said. 2nd hand next year I'll look at Res2 and MS2.

I'll be grabbing Fable 2, Little Big Planet and Far Cry 2.

Fable 2 is the game I'll be concentrating on. Whilst I really like LBP it's very much going to be a dip in dip out game for me and Far Cry will be there when I feel the urge to just shoot things.

I have ordered the US PS3 Dead Space so that will arrive by the end of the week

but then there is also Pro Evo and Fallout out the week before and the week after that I am interested in

I'm picking up Fable II and LBP definitely and may get Far Cry 2 and Dead Space later on depending on reviews. It is ridiculous - they only hurt each other as most people can only afford one or two titles.

Just Fable II. May just wait on Dead Space and leave it as a Xmas purchase.

From the games released on the 24th I will probably be picking up Fable II, Far Cry 2, LBP and Dead Space. It will just be a matter of trying to find the time to play em, which I'm sure I will squeeze in somehow!

That is insane. I didn't realise Far Cry 2 was out the same day as Fable 2! And Fallout 3 the next friday.

How i'll ever have the time (or money) to play all of games in the coming months.

I'm trying to limit myself to one new release a month at the moment. Gonna get Fable 2 this month, Gears 2 next month and haven't decided on December yet. I'm also going to pick up Namco Museum Virtual Arcade for the 360 as I've decided that doesn't actually count as a new release.

Wrath of the Lich King is actually coming out on Nov 13th, although that doesn't really make much difference.

Think I'll be doing my usual routine of buying each game one at a time and then ebaying them for the same price as soon as I've completed them. In the end I get to play everything for free (minus time it takes to ebay them, which isn't much) but it does mean I tend to rush games. Might keep hold of the RPGs for longer to make sure I've completed them properly and at a sensible pace.

Hah, just counted and theres only 13 games I want coming out before December - what's everyone complaining about?

Funnily enough, I'll be picking up none cause I'll be saving my pennies for the US Animal Crossing Wii release =) But that's an insane amount of AAA high profile titles on one day, and could lead to major saturation problems.

1 day before my birthday! woop! I'm going to ask for Farcry 2 and Fable 2, but won't be disappointed if I get neither - as I have pre-orders for Saints Row 2, Fallout 3, GoW2 this year.

That is alot of good looking games all for the same day.

Is this a case of everyone trying to release their game before people are too into Gears 2 to actualy care about anything else?
