      1. Deactivate the console (assuming it still fires up).
      2. You can download everything again for free by going to the PSN store, and in the top right is an icon that will list everythign you've ever downloaded.

Is it an optical drive failure?

Yep the brd drive will not pick up any discs, so de activate and that's it ?
        What about singstar songs ?

Singstar songs are a problem. You need to phone Sony, tell them how many songs you'd bought and they credit your PSN account with enough cash to buy them all again (that's what they did for me anyway). I'm not sure if they actually check. You need to wait for them to do some jiggery pokery their end otherwise Singstar will got through a cycle of saying "you've already bought this" yet refusing to let you download it again.

You want to deactivate your console so that you don't use up one of your "you may download this on up to 5 devices" slots, that's all.

Yep. I guess they may have fixed it so you can just re-download now, I dunno. On the plus side you'll basically get £100 of PSN credit to do what you want with. You aren;t forced to spend it on the same songs either.

Sorry for the bump'age, but did we not have a 360 died X amount of times thread?

I need to add mine to it AGAIN and offload a load of Microsoft anger
