        Elder Scrolls 4: Oblivion
The opening of the game, with the Hero emerging from the tunnel into the open countryside, has been told a thousand times by people recounting the game and with good reason. For many people, including myself, it was the first truly next generation game and to this day it still looks and plays beautifully. One of the biggest and most enjoyable game worlds I?ve played with a never ending amount of things to do and explore. Oblivion is the most defining title of this generation for me and without question the best RPG I?ve ever played.

        The Orange Box
The best deal in Videogame history, one of the most important FPS?s ever made with its two sequels, an experimental game unlike any of us have ever played mixed with the sequel to one of the most well respected Mods in Online history. ?40? Yes please Sir.

        Project Gotham Racing 4
Still undervalued and unappreciated, Bizarre?s most recent Racer is their best with some of the most exciting handling this side of Ridge Racer. It looks beautiful, has the best sounding cars in any videogame and the best Car line-up.

        Wii Sports
The game that along with Galaxy sold me the Wii and also one of the most disappointing game I?ve played. Chiefly due to the realisation of the games depth and the depth of the Wii?s software catalogue. Regardless of my issues with the Wii, Wii Sports is magnificent and it?s opening few minutes where the player realises that all their body movement is having an effect onscreen is up there with Oblivions sewer opening. Simply groundbreaking.

        Marble Blast Ultra
This has two reasons for being in this list, firstly it was my first ever experience of downloading and paying for a game and secondly I had no idea it was this good. I never had Xbox Live before the 360 and this was my first experience of downloading, gladly it was this gem of a game and I have not looked down on downloading a game over a retail copy again.

Super Mario Galaxy Yet another masterclass from Miyamoto & Co. A true successor to Mario World and Super Mario 64

Amped 3 Great story mode, great freeform mode, and choc a block with stuff to do. Have lost hours in this game

Pixeljunk Monsters Addicitve and charming little game and probably my favourite co-op title of recent times. Bargain of the century for ?3.49 quite frankly

Little Big Planet Some genius 2.5D platforming and jam packed with ideas and character. And that's before you get to the Create mode, which has already produced some gems. Will hopefully just get better too

My final choice is split between Pain, which takes a simple mechanic but wraps it up in a world of fun, and Excite Truck, which had me captivated for ages, and is still great fun now for a short blast. Surprisingly attritional handling setup as well. Gears of War 2 was also immense, especially the last couple of chapters. Halo 3 had some 'wow' moments too...it's been a good generation thus far!

            In no order:

            -Left 4 Dead.
I have only had the pleasure of experiencing the first half of the game but we played it over and over and then there's the versus mode which plays out so differently. We won one match on the first campaign with a score of 4500 to their 450 . The game is just so fresh and original. They've thought through everything really well making it easy to deal with griefers or jump out for a second to go to the loo without dieing thanks to the AI taking over. The environments and setups feel just like a movie. It's the game I've been waiting for for ten years, ever since I was old enough to watch zombie flicks .

            -Kane and Lynch: Dead Men.
Loved the storyline and the diverse missions. Loved the innovative, unique multiplayer which is all about lies, deceit and manipulation. As a big Michael Mann film this was a real thrill for me.

            -Mass Effect.
Ever since playing this I have been finding most RPGs quite limited by comparison. Apart from Shenmue and Ocarina of Time no game has touched me emotionally like that story did. A game where you really do role play.

            -Space Giraffe.
So much content for so little cost. It's a real shame it didn't sell better. They genuinely did something new and fresh here and it looks incredible. The way you have to feel the flow to each level can make new levels frustrating but once you get them it plays so slickly.

            -Gears of War.
Haven't played the sequel yet. Probably played through the campaign about 10 times now, even longer on multiplayer.

My wife has borrowed a Wii from the school she teaches at over Christmas and I've started on Mario Galaxy because of how highly rated it was by everybody on here.

I've only just finished the 3rd star in the first cluster (Bad Egg?), but I'm loving it so far!

I posted mine on page 7 and did a quick tally of the votes up to that point.

                              That was worth the effort

Just had a call from the wife and the kids want the Wii back so I have to undo it from the back of the telly. What a pain.

Looks like I won't be conquering any more galaxies...
