You don't need to buy advance tickets as you can always buy them there.

I'll be there. Going to try to sneak in on press day under a BBC guise.

Lots of cosplayers always turn up and it's well worth taki9ng a decent camera or digi-cam. I'll be taking my Sony DSCp10 so I'll try to host some little movies for ya'll.

I've been there for the spring 1999 TGS and was just blown away at that time by DC Dead or Alive 2 shown in video form at the show.

We got in on press only day (with colorful business cards and a made up news website as our employer) which let us test the games and walk the halls comfortably. We didn't return for the public opening, but I've heard it's a lot of stress to get even close to the monitors because of the masses. And as opposed to E3 it was possible to see everything in one day.

We had a good time, lots of new releases to try out, a section where you could buy memorabilia and the usual videogame show blend of loud music, hyped announcements and pretty booth girls. Makuhari Messe, where it was at back then, is an interesting location, because it's built on land that's been stolen from the ocean. You get there by train that you catch out of Tokyo.

I'm going, It will be my first trip to Japan. TGS is gonna round off my two weeks over there then i've got to get back to start uni on the monday morning after. Ha ha ha, that should be fun. The plan is to try and get in on trade day. My mate emailed Sega Europe and they said the best his best bet was to try and blag his way in because they aren't too strict. But anything Sega Europe says should be taken with a pinch of salt.

                    I really wouldn't recommend that.

Except that I worked for the BBC for several years, have all the relevant ID and can get a producer to verify me,

If a colorful business card works then you can bet the farm that will.

Only half a lie anyway as if I get any decent footage it'll end up being used anyway.

Last year I went along, it was indeed very crowded, but I just strolled up to a deserted ticket booth and bought one. The Lawsons deal seems pretty good though.

...which is considerably more professional than you made it out to be. I have been to TGS twice, and both times I saw cheeky ****ers getting turned away due to insufficient press documentation. If you apply beforehand though it's all good.

Yes. I always try to underplay my professionalism. 8)
