    Black Mesa: Source (trailer released)

I guess Valve are remaking the original Half Life using the Source engine.. it looks pretty amazing.

Also lots of screenshots here: http://www.blackmesasource.com/media.php

Edit: oh wait, it's not Valve.. I think it's just fan made

This is a user created video so unfortunately it's not solid proof of a remake. It does look very well done however.

This is a Mod that has been in the works for around 4 years now, I just got the new video sent round at work and it looks lovely.

The bit when you emerge from the storm drain into the Canyon?

Yup, this is a full blown fan remake of the original HL using the Source engine... and it looks stunning.

          Huh

Black Mesa (formerly Black Mesa: Source) is a Half-Life 2 total conversion remaking VALVe Software's award-winning PC game, Half-Life.
Black Mesa is a re-envisioning video game of the classic science fiction first person shooter, Half-Life.

EDIT: I get it now >_<

It does look absolutely incredible. I can see them wanting this mod to be their gateway into the games industry.

              WANT!!1

Seriously, I'd pay money for this. It looks awesome. I did hear it's getting put out on Steam but I can't confirm that as the official site is down (from traffic volumes no doubt).

Last time I read about this mod was a couple of years ago, it's been in development for ages. Does appear to be taking shape now though, so hopefully it will make it out next year.

Edit: Here's the teaser trailer from nearly two years ago.

I assumed this mod had fallen victim to its own ambition ages ago. And now here it is again.... looking waaaay better than it has any right to. Is Valve giving these guys a helping hand?

                      amazing stuff.

Huge respect to these guys. Anyone can have an idea like this, following it through is a huge accomplishment. I hope Valve license this, the dev team make a bit of money, and get the break they deserve.

Valve have already started to host select mods on Steam, they would be stupid to not help these guys too. I'm guessing it's just a bit too early for them to say anything. I mean we could be seeing another trailer this time next year init.

Can't see Valve not wanting to make money out of this. Will probably make them price it $14.99 and give the guys working on it a cut

They should get it out on XBLA as well... given they've used that revenue stream for portal recently and the file limit is now more forgiving.

I have to say this looks amazing... and believe it or not I only ever played through the original HL once so naturally I would pay for this.
