why not ? machine is way under the price of the PS3 whilst having the majority of better 3rd person efforts. Yes, it's had a load of well documented reliability problems, but it's still going toe to toe with the PS3 despite being older and despite being apparently outclassed by the Ps3 power wise.

It's a great bit of tech and the library is great.

That said - getting a bit bored of Edge's heavy UK slant, especially with the other awards.

Seriously though, has there been a staff change at EDGE in the last month or two? They are sooo off base with the scores lately (and the award choices are laughable)

the 360 hardware has dramticaly improved this year... ok, I'm sure it made sense when they wrote it.

Having read the text for that particular award, they really should have called
it "Platform of the Year" since they were citing the software support and attach rate, amongst other things. They acknowledge the stability issues, but personally I would never give the 360 a "Hardware" award when it's constructed as poorly as it is.

The POP review really is a laughable mess they don't seem to understand what a qte is and they describe the wall run and jump as such very bizarre,

did they even play this game past the tutorial level as the prompts disappear once you have done the first level their not qte their the games controls??

They also say you have to press the A button to do a wall run if you do that you launch yourself off the wall to wall run you just have to jump to the wall and be pressing the analog in the direction you want to go?

again do you think they actually played this game?

Someone explain to me why this magazine is worth a fiver with no cover disk on the front each month? I probably wouldn't even buy it for a fiver if the paper it was printed on was the last source of paper on earth and I needed to wipe after using the toilet!

agreed - but surely the PS3 getting it would have been outrageous too? As you say, it really should be in the context of platform of year. If it's REALLY a power guage, then hell - whatever the top end PC is at the time is going to win almost every year.

And in my opinion it is. Not too tight, over simplified jumping and bad, boring combat don't result in scores much higher than that.

Haven't played Sonic so can't say anything about it, maybe they over scored it, it can happen even to Edge.

Out of the 16 games reviewed, three games scored 5/10, two games scored below that and the rest (nine games) scored better than 5/10. So who's pissed off?

Dude, it does say hardware. Not 'system with best games' (although maybe that's what they meant?).
360's reliability woes, noise level, lack of inbuilt wifi, ridiculous HDMI+Optical contraption and lack of Blu-Ray means, to me, that it's comprehensively outclassed by the PS3. Really, 360 is a pretty poor bit of hardware design.

I will agree that (when operational) it [360] certainly gets the job done and at a decent price, but Best hardware? no.
