Wasn't it Edge that gave Farcry 2 a 9 though, or was that GamesTM?

Is it me or have there been lots of opinion dividing releases recently? Fable 2 for instance - I and others love it and Edge voted it third best game of the year, yet many others think it is a terrible game. For every person that loves Prince of Persia, there seems to be another person who thinks it a disappointment.

The only game I can think of that has received pretty much universal praise from the gamers recently has been Left 4 Dead.

So I think the argument that Edge 'have got it wrong' or 'are way off the mark' is a bit absurd. Their views just represent just one side of some polarising games.

I do love these Edge threads. Highly amusing. Nice post by the way, Capcom, you raised some very valid points.

I thought the thinly veiled Jade Raymond criticism, sorry I mean Assassin's Creed review, was in GamesTM?

Only from publications with reader circulation / reputations at stake. It's like how Halo 3 was dump* but was raved about by supposedly enlightened critics (10/10 in Edge, LOL). Most similar publications don't dare be honest about Hype Machine Games(TM) like LBP because they're afraid of either losing readership or souring relations with a publishers, especially huge publishers with big advertising budgets.

Was it? Oops... my bad, it was Games TM o.O Still seems really unfair though for great games.

From gamers I've read quite a few negative comments. Of course they may just be from anti-Sony idiots.

I hope they wank over it as much as I would. Then again it's probably not a whole issue dedicated to it.

Assassins Creed was rubbish, the only good thing about it was Games TM review and grovelling apology.

Sonic Unleashed is equal to Wario: Shake Dimension going off their review scores. I very much beg to differ, the two games are not in the same league.

Sonic has a lot of slow dull gameplay and in parts is plagued camera issues which render some parts fustrating.

The worst thing that could be said about Wario is its short.

I also did not agree with the Castlevania score, i thought it was a resonalble continueation in the DS games and is worthy of 8. I seam to recall the other DS games scoring 8, so will be interested to read why this version scored a whole 2 points less.

For what it's worth I thought 6 was generous for the new Castlevania DS, Dawn of Sorrow is miles better.

I would disgree with you there. I thoroughly enjoyed it, infact it was one of my favourite games last year but hey that debate is for another day.

it "Platform of the Year" since they were citing the software support and attach rate, amongst other things. They acknowledge the stability issues, but personally I would never give the 360 a "Hardware" award when it's constructed as poorly as it is.
It's not a hardware reliability award so yes, 'platform' or 'console' would probably have been the better choice of word. 'Platform' might be too broad, what with the talk of Rock Band as a platform and such, but I'd have liked to have seen Steam in with a shout because that's become a great platform for community and game distribution.

In any case, newer 360s are much better, and if we disregard that criteria the 360 has had the best versions of most multiplatform games, is now a great price, has had arguably the better year games-wise, and just completely overhauled its interface, which is something I've never seen a console do at this point in its life, to very positive reviews.

WTF at the Sonic Unleashed review, though? That game was bloody awful.
