There seems to be a lot of negativity now coming out about LBP. It feels a bit like the reaction to GTAIV, where everyone went bananas to start with (with good reason imo) but ultimately the game didn't satisfy in the way that was expected.

Interestingly they were the two games that Edge gave a 10/10 this year.

If anyone is interested, here are Edge's top 30 games of year:

Of the top 30 games, only 8 are from Japan (and only 2 in the top ten) and the top three are all British.

Also just under half (14) are original IP.

I couldn't be bothered with GTA IV from the outset; it was pretty obvious early on that it was nothing more than a graphical upgrade of GTA III, which is a big step back from San Andreas.

It's the inconsistency of the controls that gets me. The first prime example is the level where you have to spring up and and down on the boards. Now, on Mario that would have been a joy. On LBP it's a frustating mess that doesn't do what you are are trying to do - hold down on the spring down, then release on the spring up.

The Bunker level is just a pee-take in annoyance. The rotating wheel has an annoying camera which ruins the difficulty and the travelators are jsut broken - sometimes you can stop and turn on a dime, sometimes you travel forward a bit, sometimes you instantly start travelling in reverse. STUPID.

Interesting that LostWinds comes in one place lower than Fallout 3 - despite the fact it garnered an 8 compared to a 7...

I thought i was the odd one out when it came LBP, enjoyed it at first but the basic gameplay just killed any fun i could get. Even the best designed simple levels can control like a inconsistent mess.

Is the Uncharted 2 feature any good?

Yakuza 2 should be on that list.
