Can't argue with number 1 choice at all. I'm still playing it all these months later it really is that good a game and was a bargain for £11.99 (pre-cheeky price rise).

Yup, Wipeout is my top game too, but as much I as I like the idea of The Last Guy, I just don't find it all that playable. I would have maybe substitued that for Siren or PixelJunk Monsters. But like I said in the XBLA thread, it's been a great year for digitally distributed releases, and games such as Wipeout and Siren show that big titles can be a success. This year was definitely a turning point.

A late entry would be Lumines Supernova, it's a cracker... actually I only got my PS3 in 2008 so many of the titles I like may actually be older, but Everyday Shooter and Warhawk would be in my top 5. Warhawk would be above Wipeout HD.

I'd also comment that anyone who thinks Wipeout HDs online is silky smooth hasn't played it enough... silky smooth if you take into account the ghosting of ships that are not in their actual position, and forget the laggy weapon pads. Everything else is top notch of course, so it would still be a well deserved 2nd place for me.

          Wasn't Warhawk 2007?

Probably, like I said I only got my PS3 this year so I'm not sure about actual PSN release dates.

How about Megaman 9? Worth a mention surely.

About that Console Arcade site (not sure where else I should be making this comment) - it's a great idea, and something that's definitely required as PSN games often get overlooked by review sites.

Unfortunately the games I wanted to see reviews of are not on that site either... it might be nice to have some kind of general comments place where people can request reviews or something? (I don't really want to have to go to the effort of emailing the owners)

For the record I was curious about the Prince of Persia HD remake and Pipemania (for the PSP).. both are only available on PSN as far as I know. I'd kind of expect a site with this modus operandi to cover everything that is available. I know someone somewhere has to actually buy the stuff but...

Well you could always PM Spatial101 (the owner of the site) if you have a request for a review? If I?m not mistaken I think he is in the midst of reviewing the PSN release of Prince of Persia amongst others.

As for the rest, you`ve kind of answered your own question. There is only a finite amount of money/MS space bucks which comes from their own pockets. On top of that you also have to factor in playtime, drafts, arguing over scores and the like AND that?s before the pain in the arse that is real life starts to rear its ugly head

It can be hard to keep up to date with everything released, but I think on the whole Console Arcade offers a good resource for downloadable titles on their respective platforms. I believe it was one of the first to bother to review the likes of The Last Guy Premium (before the full release) and Dark Mist? Feel free to correct me if I`m wrong.

There is also a lot of work behind the scenes in trying to get developers to give Console Arcade readers an insight into the process of developing for the downloadable services which isn?t easy and requires a lot of delicate negotiations (see the excellent WipEout HD team interview that CA did, and if you haven`t already, shame on you!) and again, time.

Like NTSC-uk, Console Arcade is very much a labour of love, but unlike here, it only has a couple of people working on it as opposed to the large team that keeps the wheels turning here. It?s great to see people reading the site, which makes the effort all the more sweeter. Remember, you can comment on articles/reviews as the signup process takes mere minutes of your time. Keep them coming.
