Best PSP games of 2008?

Since finding my old PSP I'm interested in getting back into using it for gaming rather than the mobile media player it's currently being employed as.

I was wondering what everyones favourite PSP game was from 2008? Were there many killer releases or has it been quiet on the software front?

Going on memory, the PSP seemed to be dying in 2008 and last time I looked at a release schedule it had almost nothing on it. Which is a shame.

But I think God Of War Chains Of Olympus was 2008 and that is a must-have. An amazing game that really showed what the PSP can do. Not great for a handheld, just great.

The three standout releases for me, on the PSP last year.

Crisis Core: Final Fantasy VII is also very good IMO, especially if you're an FFVII fan. It's not a traditional RPG at all - more of an action game with heavy RPG elements - but it also looks fantastic. It's probably a toss-up between that and God of War for the title of best looking game on the PSP.

Also, the token custom firmware with emulators and PS1 games plug.

I probably played Phantasy Star Portable the most, and I think the English version is coming out in March in the States...?

2008 was a great year for the PSP. Not in terms of quantity admittedly, but in terms of quality:

Dissidia Final Fantasy

Yeah, there was some great games this year for the PSP. The best one for me was FF Crisis Core.

I was not wowed by Loco Roco 2 as much as i was the first.

Wasnt Patapon released in 2008, great game.

For me, the standouts were

God of War: Chains of Olympus
Patapon
Echochrome

Personally, I didn't think there was a great deal out but it was definitely nice to see games like the latter two on the system actually being different and not just a standard port onto the platform.

Star Ocean is great - if you love jrpgs it won't disapoint.
