    Prices in Gamestation - WTF?

I know loads of you work in retail, could anyone explain this riddle I've come across.

Gears of War 2. New, 3 different prices in the same store. Used, 3 different prices in the same store.

Total of 6 different prices for the same game. Why?

The staff probably missed a couple of boxes when re-pricing or they are just plain lazy. Take your pick at which one is correct, most of you will agree with the latter.

I'm disappointed. I thought this was gonna be a general rant about Lame Station's pricing generally. I was ready to start venting about how expensive their PC games are

Also - I feel sorry for anyone who bought a pre-owned new game (priced £5 less than RRP) in the last three months, only to find the very same shop was selling new copies days later for as little as £20.

Very funny. Not that I'm actively encouraging this sort of thing.

Which one was the right price??

Don't know which was the right price, but cheapest new was £29.99, which was cheaper than two of the used examples.

I was in there looking for the elusive Ace Combat 6, no such luck.

I've suspected since before Chrimbo that they were going down the pan thanks to the Credit Crunch and that all the staff have just stopped giving a stuff.

But there's the strong chance they were all like that before.

You should go in my local Tescos. They dont even bother to price they ex-chart games.

I haven't bought anything from GS since they were taken over I reckon.

Just not the same anymore and it would not surprise me if my local one (which competes against a Game and an even worse Cex) is closed soon.

I've said it before and I'll say it again; you can't tar all stores with the same brush. I, and many others I know who work for GS do a bloody good job!

The whole "they'll be closing because of the credit crunch soon" thing gets me too seeing as we're part of a larger group who are financially very stable.

Don't take offence teddy but that's a little bit naive in this current gloomy time. We're officially in a recession now (who'd have though aye Mr Brown!?) I wouldn't be too sure of anything at the moment - it doesn't matter how large the group is, you can bet your backside that it's biting them too.

The key part there is `part of a larger group` - when something large gets in to trouble they start to cut loose parts that aren't viable. But who's to say that won't be Gameplay / Gamestation or Game stores. After all they're on virtually every high street so who knows if they can sustain that much longer.

The again with all the reports of gaming being the salvation of the great unwashed during these bleak times, who knows? If it's true perhaps Gamestation et all may be the safest parts of retail to be working in.
