I was against the new dash at first since it seemed totally pointless. But after I downloaded it I really liked it. The aesthetics of things (everything) are pretty important in my opinion and I think it looks great. Wasn't really any need for it but I don't mind

Moving around the new dash is far quicker than the old one. Have people forgotten how chonky the old dash was. press the guide button and wait for the pause. Now most things are instant.

However it ain't perfect. A few things they need to sort:

      a) The time it takes for DLC items to appear. This is just down to shonky programming, not the speed of the dash itself. Every time you look at a DLC page, the 360 goes through your entire DL history so it knows whether to put a tick or a price next to the item. If you've got a massive DL history, this takes ages. I can see why they do it so people don't pay for the same item twice, but the DL list needs a better filter so the 360 can find this information quicker. At the moment it's just a big long list.

      b) The Inside XBox and Spotlight sections need to be combined. Often items appear in both, which makes no sense. They also need to make sure you can directly link to the DLC page for any item. I clicked on the item for The Maw in the Inside XBox section and a page popped up telling me about the game, but there was no link to download it. Under the Spotlight section was a different item that took you to the download page .

Also, there have been times that specific Rock Band DLC has been advertised on Spotlight, but when I click on the item it takes me to the general Rock Band DLC page where often the the featured DLC doesn't include the item I clicked on and I have to go and find it.

The old one was nice and straightforward to use, had everything in an easily accessible place and was stable. The new one is the total opposite. I never bother browsing the marketplace any more because I can't work out where the stuff I might be interested will be, and it freezes and / or hangs completely all the time.

I feel short-changed at the promises of the old dash functions being available in the guide too - if you want to browse the marketplace or anything like that it kicks you out of the game you're in. Even the old guide let you look at the DLC for the game you were playing.

I don't like how full-on and in your face it is with all the adverts either. I'm paying a yearly subscription after all, the least they could do is let you turn them off or filter them to your tastes.

Yeah, this is the big thing for me. Layout-wise, I thought the old dash did its job fine but it sometimes took ages for me to see what I was doing and to move from one page to the next. This one is far quicker but I have to move past ads as part of menu selections and have a far harder time actually finding what I want.

So I went for them both being pretty useless but, for me, it would be fairer to say they're both alright.
