PS3 2.60 update makes console freeze when copying photos

Just done the update and now whenever I try and copy photos from a portable HDD, USB stick or DVD, the process freezes at the copying... stage and have to manualy reset the console as unable to come out of it.

This happens either from the xmb or from the new photo software - no difference in the two

    Has anyone else experienced this?

Everything else is ok, music, video all copying etc and the pics will show with slideshow etc off the media, they just won't copy at all.

Did a quick search on the net, forums etc, but nothing showing up, am I the first?

I've just tried this by plugging in a USB stick, copying a file from my ps3 hdd to it, (a jpg), and then copying it back to the ps3 hdd from the USB stick, no problems at all here I'm afraid it all worked completely normal.

uh, try formatting the pendrive and trying it? I don't know man.

          Cheers for checking.

Tried the suggestion - still doesn't work.

Won't take photos with LBP, flow, Wipeoput HD as well - it is as if it is unable to save pictures to the HDD as can't save backgrounds from PSN, but can save themes odly enough.

Posted on the PS3 forums, so we'll see what happens.

Fixed it after using the service menu to restore both the database and the system.

And it had hapened to others, so passed this info on and it worked for them too.

Nice one, did that mean you lost the contents of the hard disk restoring the database / resetting the system? or did you not mean 'reset the filesystem'

              glad you got it sorted.

didn't lose anything other than folder labels of a few movies - 2 min job to put back.

did a backup of everything to make sure and then used the options in the boot menu and hey presto.
