Didn't even realise there was a compliation out there with Hydro Thunder on it. Just ordered the xbox version today for ?4.50 sealed, bargain. Is the emulation any good, the description over on wikipedia says it's got a lot of issues. Hopefully it's nothing major.

Just finished watching the videos, the huge drop at about 23 seconds in on Temple of Flume looks awesome, this game looks easily as good as the original.

      OMG, my eyes are bleeding.

One of those rare time when there's a big grin on my face reading an article... Even the announcer is there and the Soul Caliburesque soundtrack! Looking for the compilation now too... Now to find a nearby arcade.

PAX east announcement of this game, looks slightly less psychadelic.

Hydro Thunder Hurricane trailer on Kotaku

Midway's classic arcade speedboat racer Hydro Thunder is getting a full-fledged sequel with Hydro Thunder Hurricane, exclusively for Xbox Live Arcade, promising all-new, over-the-top rocket powered speedboat action. (Which you can witness in the game's first trailer!)

Its a different game unfortunately. H20 looks ALOT better than this new one destined for XBLA. They've really missed the point going by the Hurricane trailer.

Another who loved the original! Was so much fun with huge levels and brilliant sound.

Out of interest which of the 2 games here is the actual sequel?

Well the arcade cab game was devved by a portion of the original team. So that is the spiritual sucessor.

Hydrothunder Hurricane is a sequel from another team as MS bought the IP from midway when they folded.

So I guess they are both sequels really

                        Cheers.
I have to admit I prefer the look of Hurricane. Looks much more like the original and not OTT of effects.

Well as I'm not one for lurking around at amusement arcades, Hurricane will be the one I'm playing

Surely H2O will get a port to 360/PS3 though?

The company doing it says they are an arcade company and have no plans for console versions, also because they hardware in the cab it is designed for has quite a hefty CPU and GPU setup.

some new footage of Hydro Thunder Hurricane

They're clearly doing it on Ringedge which means we'll be playing it on the Dreamcast 2 very soon.

Someone from Japan looked at this forum once which proves for a fact this is happening.
