    PS2 Yakuza Series NTSC-J

    Hey guys,

Having looked at Pharfetchd first play thread for Yakuza 3 it's got me interested in the original 2 now but I just wondered if they are playable in Japanese??

I'd rather not have to buy a PAL machine to play them so if I can get Japan versions that are playable to someone who knows no Japanese whatsoever then I'd effinitley be a happy camper

    So playable or not?

    Thanks

    Neil

I've completed them all in Japanese and not had any real issues, theres an excellent guide on gamefaqs as well. Not upto speed on the PS2 scene but can't you use Free McBoot on a memory card to play the PAL games on a JPN PS2 or is that just for backups.

I'm actually going to get another PS2 to play my PAL copies, I know the story to 1+2 but finally want to get round to playing them in english.

      Thanks for the help

Glad to hear that they arent too taxing...just be a shame I guess to miss out on the story.

I've never heard of Free MCBoot so gonna have a google for that if it is possible to use for PAL releases then that would be awesome...finally I'll be able to play Rogue Galaxy & Star Ocean as well

I guess if I look hard enough I'll be able to find a cheap PAL PS2 & copies of the games anyway so worst case is I will buy them that way.

      Thanks again

For the record, apparently the guides written by "ThePatrick" are fantastic.

The games are really cheap new, think the first one can be bought for about £8-9 and the second for £12-13. Which is good for people finally wanting to play them, but I actually thought these would be going for daft money by now seeing as no one bought them and they probably didn't have a huge print run.

Also as far as I know Free McBoots a modchip on a memory card, you just need to find a way of putting the files on there, going to look into that myself when I buy another PS2.

There the ones, very good, the Kenzan ones even better. He's going to be translating the cutscenes for 3.

              Awesome news on prices

Cheap PAL PS2 could well be on the cards then in that case

With regards to Free McBoot I found this awesome guide...

Doesnt appear to say wether it allows booting of originals though.

              Will investigate further me thinks

Those guides look great, thanks for the linkies
