BAFTA Game Awards 2009 - live feed

Didn't think this was headline worthy tbh - bit of a farce aren't they.

BBC are providing a live update feed of proceedings though for anyone interested : http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/technology/7933672.stm

Meh, they should just have Charlie Brooker present the whole thing.

Wait a sec, didn't CoD4 already win at least 1 bafta last year?

There were no game BAFTA's last year. They shifted the dates around so that they come after the Christmas rush now rather than before it. That means games from as long ago as the end of 2007 are eligible this year. Normality resumes again next time.

Dead Space for best music? Erm, yeah, ok.

Still, one for us. Two career BAFTAs so far, not bad

I love how CoD4 got a vote over CoDWaW. given how much coDWaW copy and pastes from CoD4 it sounds about right to me

I suppose it's great that the BAFTAs are extending to the games industry but the whole thing feels a little forced. Perhaps because of comments like this...

I know! Apparently it's a super surprise winner that nobody expected, and that. Well, they maybe wouldn't have expected it if they didn't know that games from end '07 were included, but somehow I didn't think that was what was being implied, specially with the hand-in-hand reiteration of the surprise that GTA4 didn't sweep the board...

Still, I mean, I guess all us fake gamers need to be onboard with the Real Gamers (tm) who know that every single game that happens to be on the Wii is exactly equivalent to Imagine: Party Babyz, right? Right?

Whoever was doing the BBC feed seemed to have some sort of pro-PC, pro-dark and edgy thing going on. Look at the number of 'i bet no PC games win' and 'you can keep your kiddy console games' comments they picked out of their mailbag.

Because its a game you finish once then probably never touch again? Meanwhile, hundreds of thousands of people play COD4 every day.

Good call on Professor layton and Boom Blox, not so good on the best original score going to Dead Space when PC MMOs such as LotRO and AoC each have astounding original scores.
...and giving Spore a best technical acheivement in favour of LBP is woeful.
                              I'll shut up now.
