If you're over 18 and play Animal Crossing, you're a paedophile (apparently)

There seems to be a lot of hysteria surrounding games at the moment in US media (not sure why, hasn't really been a trigger for it). This one is the most lollersome though:

"There is no reason an adult should have [Animal Crossing: City Folk]," says Andy Anderson, Mid-Missouri Internet Crimes Task Force.

Anderson says adults playing "Animal Crossing" and similar games are likely doing it for the wrong reasons.
Correct me if I'm wrong, but hasn't pretty much every advert for AC:CF shown 20-somethings? I find it amazing someone who's job it is to know about these things can be so out of touch with his area of 'expertise'.

Just when you think the general populace cannot get any more stupid or ignorant, they pull another one out the bag. I'm lost for words on this one...

Anyone who watches a Pixar movie at the cinema is undoubtably going there for the wrong reasons.

Ah ha, I always knew there was something dodgy about my sister, I will never speak to her again!! Although I suppose it's a bit hypocritical of me seeing as I've played Viva Pinata and must therefore be a warped sicko.

*The one in the game, not his namesake here!

              Ban request!

I don't think it's appropriate to say such things about a fellow forumite, FSW.

What next? Pokemon becomes the sole cause of animal abuse?
Cooking Mama encourages you to play with knifes in the kitchen?

Games = The media's scapegoat for the worlds problems

                              Dear Mr. Anderson,

I have been playing Animal Crossing for some years now and have always enjoyed it greatly. Over roughly the same period, I have also been spending increasing amounts of time talking to girls of a questionable age through internet chat services. It has puzzled me where this sudden desire for dangerous gratification has come from; that is until now.

I wanted to write and thank you personally for your intervention. After reading your quote I realised that this problem was entirely caused by running mundane errands for computer-generated animals, decorating a fictional house, digging up and learning about fossils and the myriad other insidious activities this wretched game has forced me to perform. Since terminating my daily Animal Crossing sessions, I have managed to completely avoid grooming children on the internet.

Thank you again for your commendable public service.

                              Yours Sincerely,

                              X.
