    Guitar Games

I'm looking at getting one of those guitar games. The closest I've come is picking up a cheap PS2 guitar a few years back, and hooking it in to the PC to use in Frets On Fire. The experience wasn't that great. As a real guitarist, it felt far too artificial, so I never bothered with it.

However, one of my mates has Lips, and those mics are going to be compatible with GH:Metallica and Rock Band 2. With RB2 getting GnR's Chinese Democracy (I've done a little reading ) I can see myself picking up both of those games.

So my question is - what guitar should I get? It seems a bit of a minefield, with incompatibility and features varying from brand to brand, sequel to sequel. I'd prefer wireless, and will be getting this on the 360 if that matters.

    Any advise is appreciated. Thanks

The Guitar Hero equiptment is compatible with the most stuff, because of activision being selfish and not allowing Rock Band stuff to work with GH.

Rock Band 2 = Buy it.

GH Metallica = Buy it if you love the band, otherwise rent.

Rock Band 1 = Rent it, pay for licence and put all the tracks onto HDD.

GH World Tour = Avoid, the better tracks (imho) are already on RB2 and it's not a patch on the RB series imho.

Equipment wise, having owned the lot, the GH WT instruments are better, but there really isn't too much between them. I ended up buying the GHWT pack and selling the game off in favour of RB2 (solus) and playing with GHWT instruments.

        Exactly what i did.

Rock Band 2 for your gaming, GH:WT for your instruments.

          Thanks for the advice fellas

Didn't realise you could "move" all the RB1 tracks to the HDD for RB2, that's a nice feature - no code on the RB1 manual or anything to ensure people actually own the title?

I'll look out for the GHWT guitar and get RB2, then pick up Metallica next month. Checking through the RB DLC, there's a lot there. My remaining 3000 MS points won't last long

Nope no code you just have to purchase a 'key' through the game for 400 points. And it moves all tracks over bar like 5. Great feature

That's great I'll be sure to keep 400 points spare. Anyone got RB1 for the 360 I can borrow
