this didn't crack the UK top 10 this week, outsold by Split Second (6th in charts) and PS3 exclusive Modnation, both in their 2nd week on sale.

not played my copy yet but doesn't bode well for a game that appears to rely on community and lots of online users.

GAME/Gamestation issue can't be alone to blame for this as most of these shops located near other retailers who would have it.

Although I love it, I did think this would perform poorly next to Split Second. SS is such a great idea on paper whereas Blur requires to be played to get what all the fuss is about.

However, a game that doesn't have a massive online community can sometimes be better - it avoids all the nob heads. I remember playing Crash 'n Burn on the 360 for about six months. The community was literally only 30 people who played the game religiously for six months non-stop. I got to know some of my best friends on Live from there and it had a fabulous community spirit.

Its a terrible shame, it certainly deserves to be in the top 10. Lack of PR could be a real factor, i picked up Blur on a whim after watching a video review. Thats all i ever really saw of it.

From an 'on the street' level you could be forgiven for thinking it isn't out yet, it's so low profile. It's like it's been lost in the Xmas rush without it being Xmas

With June being so quiet it'd be nice to see Activision use some clout to push it. PS3 number of online players yesterday hovered 500

The 360 has been around 2,500 to 3,000 every time I've been on (including Monday afternoon). Maybe the release of MNR has also hurt sales on the PS3?

I've seen the Blur advert on tv even more than the Red Dead Redemption one and seen plenty of newspaper/mag ads, plus there was a demo - I don't see what more they could have done. Other than pick a better release date! Ive wanted this game for ages but I haven't bought it simply due to a lack of time and money now the likes of Red Dead, Alan Wake, etc are out. The same goes for Split Second, I'd probably have bought both games if they released during quieter periods.

i bought it yesterday, tried game - "we only had three copies in", no copies in gamestation, indie shop selling it at ?44.99, so go it in HMV at ?39.99.

having spent a day with it, its definately a grower not a show-er (opposite of Split Second which is instant WOW and then gradually kills your interest) and a terrible shame GAME / GAMESTATION have used this game to play silly buggers with Activision.

Shame a game designed with such fully integrated online stuff only had 650 online people last night. I was racing with 2 people only, ITS DESIGNED FOR 20!.

its definitely confusing and/or too expensive for people with 3 quality racing titles out in a week.

so poor timing + distribution spat = still birth for a quality game.

Just goes to show if GAME group have issues with you, it can cause you all sorts of problems. Activision would have wished for Top 5 at least, the userbase can only grow as the game gets cheaper and as people finish off the backlogs want something new. I do want it but have ran out of cash to snag it for £29.99
It's WAS £29.99 from game gears, incase anyone missed the bargain thread.
                  Blur - Xbox 360
                  Blur - PS3
                  Gone up to £34.50.

Split/Second too. What were they thinking?

just posted some 1st play thoughts but having played all 3 I can see how this fails to find an audience as the game mechanic and art style feels totally mismatched.

that said its a better game than split second to my mind, but that is a better package in terms of focus and hitting a target audience

I went into Bedford town centre at lunchtime and there isn't a single mention of the game nor a copy sitting on shelves anywhere. I asked in Game and Gamestation about it and both gave the same answer, that they got very limited stock in and it all sold out. I asked why a game was selling wouldn't have space on the shelf where it should be and I got a sort of non-answer.

However after some pressing, it turns out Game had one copy of the 360 version in stock hidden out the back. If the Game/Activision spat is over, the Game staff sure as **** haven't been told about it.

If you'd seen the Blur adverts and wandered into town to buy it, you'd be thinking it had been delayed or cancelled.

I feel so sorry for BC. The last hit game they had was probably F1 on the PS1.

PGR4 pretty much bombed but 3 did pretty well at launch, plus PGR2 was the 5th best selling Xbox game with PGR1 right behind it

According to VG Chartz, PGR4 did 1.95 million. It isn't up there with Gran Turismo and I think both recent Forza's have outsold it, but its decent decent numbers.

That makes me feel a bit better. I always thought the PGR games were amazing but sold poorly. Blur deserves some success too.

I think the PGR series as a whole failed to sell in the numbers it really deserved - PGR2 did just over 2 million, PGR 1 and 3 around 1.5 million. It'll be interesting to see whether Microsoft invest in PGR5 without Bizarre.

                                Sorry, bit OT.
