    Swapping my 360 for a PS3, but which PS3?

I know more people with a PS3 than ones with a 360 and I'm tired of not playing with or against them online.

So I'm gonna exchange my 360 for a PS3. I remember reading that the newer PS3's don't offer backwards compatibility but I want that so what do I need to look for when hunting down a 2nd hand PS3 that is backwards compatible?

One more thing, does the PS3 support legacy controllers?

Assuming your PS2 back catalogue is from the UK, your only option (Other than to use a PS2, obviously!) is to source the 60GB PAL model. They weren't easy to get hold of last I checked though.

That should tell you what models you're searching for.

EDIT: And I don't think the DS2s are fully compatible, although I might be wrong on that.

      Cheers for that.

I dunno why I didn't check wiki in the first place

60gb ones can be obtained fairly easily from CEX though you can expect to pay a premium (same as an 80gb one would set you back new with a couple of games).

You can get adapters to use regular PS2 pads with the PS3. In addition, things like PS2 steering wheels work fine, as do PS2 component cables, Singstar Mics and the EyeToy.

FYI even the new PS3s can still play PS1 games. It's only PS2 games that don't work on them.

PS2 controllers should work 100% after firmware updates and appropriate adaptors.
Pretty much all PS2 accessories are supported too (not eye-toy) so it is a very easy upgrade path.
