Hello, (sorry for the tired old thread again)
My PAL 60GB PS3 bit the dust last night, it was 17% through downloading a system update and just suddenly shut off with a weird sound, now when powering it on it just gives me a solid yellow light then back to a flashing red one so its obviously some kind of hardware failure
Its out of warranty too, obviously being purchased in april 2007. I phoned 08705 99 88 77 and explained the situation, and they want ?145 for a refurbed 60GB with 3 month warranty. I got a bit irate at this point and explained I'd looked after it and I have other expensive equipment thats years older and also out of warranty and thats still trucking. bloody sony.
Anyway I said I'd try applying for the continuous play scheme and the guy on the phone said I wouldn't be able to because I've now registered the machines details with him, I said well you could have told me and mentioned why would I bother sending them ?145 for a machine with a 3 month warranty that might do the same thing on the fourth month when I can sigh up for continuous play even with a dead machine. He questioned this and I mentioned it was written on the website.
He told me by all means try signing up for it so I guess thats the only route I have left.
Man, this is so lame.
Anyone had experience with this? Thats the main reason I made the thread hehe. Thanks for any help.
