    Trinity Zill O'll Zero [PS3]

Not likely to make it out of Japan but the PS1 game was enjoyable...in the way that Japanese RPGs are when they don't get an English translation.

There are scans online from the latest Famitsu too.

Published by Koei, Trinity Zill O'll Zero is sounding interesting if only for the fact that it pledges to be a mature RPG with some pretty dark themes, marking it out as a more engaging experience than the typical "boy hero saves the world and comes of age" story that has been turning JRPGs into drivel for the past ten years.

The original Zill O'll has seen three incarnations -- the PSX original, a PS2 remake and a PSP release that is yet to hit Western shores. It's one of the few Koei games I haven't been able to find and play, making it quite remarkable. It's apparently pretty decent, too.

We have some low quality images of the current-gen sequel, as leaked from Famitsu magazine. Check 'em out in the gallery and revel in yet another PS3 exclusive. Sony's really lucked out lately.

So this is out in the EU the 11th of this month, never played any of the previous games but the videos of this have me interested. Anyone seen any reviews yet or know how well the Japanese version was received?

      Famitsu gave it 9, 8, 8, 7.
      Dengeki Playstation gave it 80, 75, 90, 75.

This is according to gameFAQ's. There is also a demo on the US store apparently - I'll be hitting that **** up tomorrow.

Cheers, looks like it may be pretty decent, will have to check out the US PSN for the demo then.

          Just a warning:
Played the Japanese PS3 demo months ago - utterly terrible, generic hack and slash crap. I'd rather go back and play Demon's Souls again.

The JP demo gave me a different vibe than DW. There are far less enemies and the moves and stages are more like a regular beat em up or Action RPG.

I did like it, but not for a full price game.

You want to be getting one of the Ys games if you like action RPGs.

This is pretty much like a Koei game, except with less enemies on-screen.

Having just played the demo I can't really see what's terrible about it, it's no GOTY but combats no worse than a PSO game, actually looks like the full game could have a bit of depth to it with the amount of customisation of each characters abilities and switching between them to make use of their individual skills.

Assuming the story is good and it's as open ended as they claim with plenty of sidequests I may just get this as it does remind me a bit of PSO for some reason, just need to find it for sub £30.
